Discussion: Ex-Acting Solicitor General: Trump Knows His Future Is 'Behind Bars' If No Deal

There isn’t enough popcorn in the world that can be served to satisfy me for what is coming to Don the Con. Damn!

If (against all odds) Donald Trump sought and faithfully executed a cooperation agreement with federal prosecutors, he would die of old age before he finished describing the various felonies he committed or to which he was a witness.

Because of his very big, very good brain. It’s like a steel trap for those sorts of things.

Isn’t Katyal an illegal alien or an anchor baby?

You let them in and they destroy the order of the universe that has been around for centuries.

They send their lawyers, they send their prosecutors, they send all their kharab loags.

Permit me the stupid question… what is to prevent Trump from pardoning himself towards the end of his term?

Toadglans doesn’t deserve a deal. He deserves to spend the rest of his life in prison, with every asset he owns acquired as the result of a crime (read: all of them) be forfeited.

Likewise his family deserves to lose their assets and to serve long prison sentences for various crimes — including his sisters and brother who committed massive tax fraud!

Well well well. It sure does seem like we’ve crossed the I-word threshold here. Impeach, indictment, incarceration, what have you.

He can do it but the likelihood that it would be successfully challenged is a whole 'nother kettle of fish. I like to think I can’t imagine a court upholding a self-pardon issued for the sole purpose of avoiding prosecution.

A more likely approach, says WaPo’s Jennifer Rubin, is that he will resign and have susPence pardon him. However, this will do nothing to protect him from prosecution on state crimes.

Whatever happened to “Build your enemy a golden bridge…”-stuff ?
Please, don’t make him so desperate, he tests the nuclear launch codes .

Probably wouldn’t hold up. There’s a common law principle that no man may be judge of his own case that most commentators think would be read in to any attempt at a self-pardon. It’s why Nixon didn’t try it. There’s an OLC memo about it that dates from that time.

Infamy?

“I” is Donald’s favorite word, so it’s only fitting.

Gotta be a big name on the teevee to get tweeted by Trump, though. Non-celebrities mostly don’t exist for him.

Because of incompetence, idiocy, insanity and inanity. Some of which he shares with Hannity.

“That is an incredibly damning document that his own Justice Department filed, essentially against him, on Friday, saying President Trump ordered the commission of various felonies. Serious felonies,” he said.

Serious felonies for a seriously flawed candidate.

The only deal he can realistically cut is to keep his kids out of prison if he resigns and pays fines in line with what he has grifted using the Oval Office…

Personally, I think he needs to wear a XXL orange jumpsuit for the duration of his life…
