Discussion: Everything We Know About Charleston Suspect Dylann Roof

Discussion for article #237592

The former classmate told The Daily Beast that he didn’t think Roof was a racist so much as a conservative with a lot of “Southern Pride.”

“He made a lot of racist jokes, but you don’t really take them seriously like that,” Mullins said. "You don’t really think of it like that.”

Well, SCOTUS would appear to agree with this young man, there’s a distinct bright line between ‘Southern Pride’ and bigotry, which has been stamped out in the South. A joke is a joke and not racism if you don’t feel it in your heart of hearts, which can be admitted into testimony at your murder trial… then again, by the time you pull out the ole’ .45 and start opening fire on innocents the cross-examination may question your real intentions. Besides, evidently he had a number of black ‘friends’ on Facebook, right?

Oh, you mean he wasn’t shot in the back by the arresting officers? Gee, what a surprise. I wonder why.

I’d say that anyone who doesn’t “think of it like that” had better start thinking of it that way.

And I wonder how long it will be before Megyn With A “Why?” Kelly, Sean Hannity, and that paragon of racial justice Bill O’Reilly start sucking on the balls of this terrorist.

Santorum was right, the motive must have been religious, he had several black Facebook friends!!!

He’s not a racist, he just wouldn’t shut up about being a racist and loved to say racist things.

You know, like us.

The Confederate States of America on his license plate and flag patches of Rhodesia and South Africa on his jacket, Who knew he was a racist? Just the type of guy you should gift a 45 caliber handgun on his birthday.

I have a feeling dear old dad is not too far politically from his son…

“He used drugs heavily a lot,” Mullins told the news site. “It [sic] obviously harder than marijuana. He was like a pill popper, from what I understood. Like Xanax, and stuff like that.”

Cowles told Reuters he believed Roof’s father recently gifted him a .45-caliber handgun for his birthday

Why would you give a gun to a pill popping druggie loner as a birthday present? His dad should be charged with a felony., although I doubt there is a law on the books that would cover that.

I was betting his father had a lot to do with this - he didn’t come up with this stuff on his own. Now we learn Daddy gave him a handgun for his birthday. What you bet Daddy turns out to be a white supremacist?

And I wonder how long it will be before Megyn Kelly starts claiming that the victims “were no saints” and “made bad choices too”

I give it about three more hours.
