“The best thing for him as President — since after almost one year, there’s been no show of collusion — seems to me like he’s coming out looking pretty good at this point and he ought to just let it play out, ” [Grassley] said.

What’s that old saw about intercourse with chickens?

This is all predictable. At this point is in their best interest for republicans to stand with Trump. Like in medieval battles (and up to the napoleonic wars) as long as an Army stands and fights there is the chance of survival at least for some. When an army turned and run then they were picked up by the cavalry and completely destroyed.

It’s the same thing now, the GOP has a lousy general engaged them in a battle they cannot win, but as long as they stick together something may be rescued, the Senate for sure. If they start running of the hills and denouncing Trump now then they are for a historic thrashing, way worse that the one they are going to get, because democrats and independents are not going to forgive them this late in the game, and the deplorables would stay home.

So expect Congressional GOPers that are running for reelection not to do anything that will upset the Trumptards, because those are the only votes they are going to get next November.

The Senate Rs will hold together because they know it’s going to be difficult for Dems to take back the Senate this year, as opposed to 2020 when there will be a lot of Rs running for reelection, But Comey is going to make himself heard very soon in the form of a book, so is McCabe with Bromwich representing him and former CIA director Brennan isn’t going to let up either.

Oh, did McConnell and the other Rs mention the rubles they had to launder in 2016?

-Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell used his PAC to accept $2.5 million dollars from a pro-Kremlin oligarch.

-Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker took $1 million from the same oligarch.

-Money was also received by Ted Cruz, John McCain, Lindsey Graham, John Kasich and Marco Rubio, albeit in smaller, less concerning amounts. McConnell’s donation is the real problem for Republicans, as the Palmer Report explains:

Uhhhhh…Hey Josh. Check out paragraph eight. You’ve got Sen, Thune as being the senator from South CAROLINA, which is Graham’s job. Thune is one of the senators for South DAKOTA.

That conclusion is kind of questionable though. And I think they are waiting for the primaries and more reliable polling data to make that determination. There is a very real concern that Trump voters won’t come out in November, since Trump isn’t on the ballot.

If that turns out to be correct, look for republicans to start peeling away from Trump in droves.

When the final story is written about this horrible chapter in our history, the GOP Congress is going to be the true villain. They have the power to stop this criminality, and are doing nothing.

Josh knows we here know who all 100 senators are and can put names to states in a flash. Hahaha

I think the Republicans have arrived at the acceptance stage in regards to the death of their party. Until it finally happens they’re going to get away with whatever they can. Then the most guilty ones will retire or go into lobbying. The least besmirched will hang in for as long as they can, maybe even trying to weasel into the the Democratic party. They’ll give a big shrug and an “I tried to tell you…” to cover their sins.

In public the Rs still sound like they’re stuck at denial.

Two and a half mega bucks worth of leverage on McConnell explains a lot.

Wow. I mean, we all figured, but I didn’t realize there was clear evidence of it. Seems criminal to me, but I dunno anymore cuz none of what appears criminal seems to matter.
