And what has he accomplished as a Congressman?
Not that North and not that much of it. Besides, itās been redrawn since Brat was elected.
2014 got folks McConnell and if memory serves me right, Warner nearly lost his seat by 0.8% (17,723 votes)
Never doubt an American voterās laziness as it relates to midterms.
Seems the obvious candidate for the Dems would be Terry McAuliffe. He would presumably appoint a placeholder candidate in the meantime.
Anybody heard any rumblings about this?
senate or vp?
either way, Terry has a bit of a baggage.
David Brat, President, āEgomaniacs āRā Usā
Sure, but at least Tequila bottles are recyclable, that should cut down the lift.
Spewed hate against the President. Which is what his district loves. There are vile road/yard signs about Obama all over his district.
Terry has been a reasonably popular governor and is far better known than any other VA Democrat. I think he would be the favorite in a Senate race against Brat or any other Republican I can think of.
that race is in '17.
Youāll have to forgive Lauren. Ever since her patriotic heroine Michele Fiore went down the tubes, she has to hitch her star to another RW asshole, and if anyone can be called an asshole, itās David Brat. And Lauren - āslayingā Eric Cantor in a congressional race isnāt exactly analogous to David slaying the giant Goliath. Cantor was about as popular as ebola among the Teabaggers in his district, but a Senatorial race is statewide, and Brat wonāt be able to get away with the shit he pulled when he ran against Cantor, and āshitā is all the Teabaggers know.
Brat is going to have one of the shortest political careers of all time.
It blows my mind how these 15min media darlings think that most people believe their bogus arguments. Delusional comes to mind. BTW his economics chair at his university was a Koch funded chairā¦'nuff said
You mean as Hillaryās VP? I donāt think sheād do that. IIRC, McAuliffe has always been pretty close with the Clintons ā so much so that Republicans have always tried to tar them as in cahoots with each other over the years. Gov. McAuliffe has been a pretty good governor here. I think he might make a good Democratic U.S. Senate candidate if Kaine were chosen for HRCās VP. Iād vote for him. Iād also vote for him again as our governor if our constitution allowed a governor to serve two consecutive terms (stupid rule). We have exceedingly lax laws on gifts (see McDonnell and his wife), but we have an asinine rule that no governor can serve two consecutive terms. Oh, well. Terry McAuliffe is good in the governorās seat and heād make a good U.S. Senator, but I doubt heād be chosen for VP only because of his past closeness to the Clintons.
āOBSTRUCTING Congress, Senate the executive stuff, that is the stuff I love.ā
Hey David - I FIFY.
Yes, the special election would be in 17, and McAuliffe would appoint a placeholder in the meantime. His single term as governor is up at the same time (VA governors canāt serve consecutive terms).
I donāt know whether Terry wants the seat, but I suspect he does - he is nothing if not ambitious. And Virginia Senators are very often former governors, including both of the current ones. Iām sure he would win a Democratic primary easily - not sure who would challenge him.
Eric Cantor-Slayer David Brat Eyes Senate Seat If Tim Kaine Gets VP Nod
ā parser error Line 1
Iām trying to figure out if Cantor got himself all gay married and amended his last name with the hyphenated name of his husband, Mr. Slayer. And then I get to ābrat eyesā and Iām in a full-on divide-by-zero condition.
As a fellow Virginian, Mr. Brat, heed these four words: Over my dead body.
Dave Bratās economics department at Randolph Macon College - a Methodist liberal arts college - is bought and paid for by BB&T.
True, but the special election would be in a non-Presidential year, with much lower (and more Republican-friendly) turnout. Virginia may be trending blue, but it is by no means a safely blue state.
Getting a little out over your skis there Dave, Northern Virginia will determine any replacement for Sen. Kaine, doubt it will be you.
