Discussion: Emails Show Clinton Sought Secure Smartphone In 2009, Was Rebuffed By NSA

Discussion for article #247525

Not clear from the story whether this is exculpatory, since it doesn’t explain why she chose to route emails through her private server, but you have to think if NSA had been more accommodating, HRC probably would have stayed on the government plan, thereby saving herself a lot of grief.

If the NSA had given her a secure phone, she would probably have not set up a private server. But she would not have avoided grief. Republicans have been trying to pin things on her for a couple decades now.

Is Fox ‘News’ covering this? How are they spinning it?

Read the statement from judicial watch. That is how they are spinning it or will. She knew her phone was unsecure and used it anyway. It will be a play on this being criminal or some such.

More PROOF! PROOF I TELL YOU! of a nefarious plot by Hillary and her Bankster/Illuminati masters to deceive the public about her insidious plan to kill everyone at the BENGHAZI compound who had discovered her plot to make Obama “Emperor for Life” with the help of the UN Blue Beret Gay Nubian troops hiding with their Black Helicopters in the mobile homes inside the FEMA extermination camps ALL OVER THE COUNTRY (that nobody has seen) and take away all our Bibles, Guns, and Women!
I read it over on NewsMax so it MUST be true!

It’s Judicial Watch. There’s nothing judicial about them…it’s all GOP’er with those guys. If they want to question folks under oath they might want to start with the NSA “officials” that thought it was a good move to deny the Sec. of State a secure phone.

But folks…watch out. The most potent tool the GOP has is “Language control”…and it’s not a good idea to adopt it. Obamacare is an example. But “private server” is another. The server in question was a in a properly secured server farm, not in her bedroom and and had a dedicated partition on it for her. Sec. Clinton did not set up a server on her kitchen counter as the GOP would have you believe.

GOP language should never be used. Its constructed to benefit them no matter who uses it including Democrats and the media. " Let the American people decide" should only be cited for ridicule just as “religious freedom” should be. They’re gross distortions of fact with a pleasant ring to them. Don’t do this.

Yes, she knew that the device she was using was not perfectly secure: that’s why she and her staff were not sending any information known to be classified at the time over it.

Yes she wanted the most secure device she could get. The people who ought to be investigated are the NSA officials who denied her.

And the irresponsible GOP critics’ problem is?

They seem to think that she should have tied herself to a windowless office somewhere where she would have had to run outside to get messages. That disdain for interacting withh the real world is probably how the Bush crew lived in such a bubble.

Yes…but its all “fact based lies” . The phone may or may not have been secure but what matters is what was sent to it and from it. It doesn’t matter if you use an unsecured device for traffic that does not require security. The JW position reeks of GOP’er shop talk. And we all know they don’t give a shit about security. Just an angle to get Clinton. If they get the right Judge they can move.

I agree. Personally, I think this does help Hillary because it shows she wanted to play by the rules but was rebuffed by the security apparatus. It does make me wonder why Judicial Watch would release it, though.

That’s where I come out on it, yep. Obama already had one and they couldn’t get one for her? Jackasses.

Well…damned if you do, damned if you don’t…ESPECIALLY if you are Hillary Clinton. It certainly took a while for THIS to come out.

Why the hell is TPM still giving coverage to this bullshit story? Judicial Watch. Give me a break.

Nitpicking nonsense from the nattering nabobs of negativism (with apologies to William Safire).

I believe these are two different issues that are being conflated. Security does not allow smartphones into certain areas because of things like Bluetooth and built in cameras. They are perfect spy machines. Their prohibition has little to do with sending or receiving classified material on your phone. I believe that this problem only existed because of where her office was.

Not the secret basements underneath them, no.
I just shop there. Every. Single. Day. Wearing my camo-sweat-pants, camo-baseball-cap, camo-underware, camo-boots, and camo-jacket over a Jack Daniels tee-shirt.
USA! USA! USA!

“These documents show that Hillary Clinton knew her BlackBerry wasn’t secure,” Tom Fitton, the president of Judicial Watch, said Wednesday."

I guess I’m not as smart as these Judicial Watch guys, but isn’t that what Sec. Clinton has been saying all along? She used the private server for normal correspondence and when it came to classified info, she used other channels?

This continues to smell like a set-up to ensnare HRC…

No, these documents show that the NSA didn’t do their damn job and someone over there needs to be fired.
