Officials have no plans to move the animals while some of the elephant seals nurse their pups.

Thank you.

So are we supposed to send them dildos now? There’s so many new and confusing things going on in the world, you hardly know how to respond to each one.

One tiny ray of sunshine in the chamber of horrors.

Guess we need to be thankful for 35 new pups having a nice patch of beach to grow up on.

You really don’t mess with these guys.

Who’s going to volunteer to explain “leave no trace” to them?

And in other elephant news, the one in the room.

Elephant seals are enormous. They can do damage to humans quite easily. One in Cambria 5 or 10 years was on the beach, it seriously injured a man. In the same area a man walked his dog off leash, and of course the dog ran to the seal. Nothing happened but could have. This is a good illustration of the need for public employees to protect wildlife and to protect people from their idiotic behavior. No one reads signs.

Blatantly lying. Have they all sold their souls to the devil, or are they the devil?

Just keep them safe. In Oregon there are some criminals that are shooting them…

this is much better than the story about the trashing of the Joshua Tree Monument.

Stephen Miller just came out of his coffin and whispered into tRump’s head an idea about building jails for anchor seals. (This is intended to be snark, but maybe I should bookmark this just in case.)

Josh made a good observation a long time ago, which was that Trump tends to reveal rottenness where it exists. It’s certainly true of the many evangelical leaders who’ve thrown out every principle you’d expect them to hold dear simply to have greater power in the secular world. We heathens here knew they weren’t for real, but boy, have they shown it to everyone else.

My two daughters and my niece spent a day at Joshua Tree last Friday. The park was still closed, but some staff was there (hopefully, to prevent any more trees being cut down ) Since they didn’t have to pay an entrance fee, they took a bunch of snacks and drinks to them. They loved what they saw and all said they would go back. But it’s sad about the damage that was done.

As long as these elephant seals don’t commit arson like the Bundy Refuge miscreants, I’ll welcome their fence-smashing selves.

I didn’t know that nature was still allowed to exist during this Administration.

Removing them will help save threatened winter steelhead and spring chinook salmon, state officials said. Analyses show that sea lions ate about one-fourth of the steelhead run last year and about 7 to 9 percent of the spring chinook salmon, officials said.

“The unfortunate reality is that, if we want to prevent extinction of the steelhead and Chinook, we will have to lethally remove sea lions at this location,” Shaun Clements, a policy analyst for the state Department of Fish and Wildlife, said in a statement.

I used to live in Half Moon Bay, just north of Ano Nuevo beach - which is a safe haven and breeding ground for the elephant seals. Yeah, those guys are seriously vicious about protecting their territory. I wonder though - if this brood is allowed to stay, if they won’t just ‘claim’ it in the future, and return here? Nothing terribly wrong with that - but you’d have to change the parking, fencing and public access to protect them.

Kind of ironic that an East coast elephant seal created this opportunity for West coast elephant seals…

I really think the god some christians like graham believe in is the jealous, war like, hateful god/jesus of the bible and not the loving, caring, decent father figure, that Jesus is described as in other parts of the bible.
