The honorable thing for the editor to do in this case would be to immediately resign. Apparently Rachelle Cohen doesn’t feel all that responsible for the dumbest thing she’s ever done. And, apparently, firing her was simply out of the question. I think I may barf. Again.

So, I guess the FACT that the cartoon maker said he had a tube of that watermelon-flovored toothpaste at home is meaningless to all of you . . .

He has specifically said it was a comment on the Whitehouse gate crasher and how the cartoonist “saw a tube of watermelon toothpaste that his kids left on a bathroom counter before he went to work”.

I have used it myself. It does not taste like watermelon. It tastes like artificially sweetened/flavored candy paste.
My kids like it, though.
It is pretty easy to respond to you with “but of course a liberal will see racism in anything - even a tube of toothpaste”.
Not sure why people don’t ‘get’ the cartoon … I thought (with the caption) that it was self explanatory. The concept was funny but obviously there was a subtext that was racist. I’m surprised it wasn’t Fried Chicken flavored toothpaste.
The Herald is a whore house for conservative scum. The great holocaust that the editor recounted (some darky gave a reporter grief) is an absolute devastating horror. For that she should jump off the Mystic-Tobin bridge but not before chaining herself to every other Herald staffer. They are goddam racist scum even if they deny it and cry crocodile tears when it’s highlighted. When it comes to the Herald it’s NHI, No Humans Involved.
Also, she asks forgiveness all over the place-- but not of the president? Or the people who might have once again been stereotyped? Just her colleagues?
