Discussion: Ed Whelan Takes Leave Of Absence After Inflammatory Tweet Thread

Whelan is chased from a job for doing something Trump does about 3-4 times a day, every day, all year long.

The guy who runs the fry machine at McDonald’s would get fired for not washing his hands after using the bathroom, and rightly so. But this prick gets off with a leave of absence? What, E&PPC couldn’t find his replacement masturbating out by the dumpster in the alley behind the local Beef & Brau?

There seem to be ample grounds for a libel/defamation lawsuit here, should the harmed party want to go that route.

Of course he needs to take a leave of absence. He’s going to be busy scouring the pages of old yearbooks from Yale to see if he can find some pictures of other doughy frat boys who look like Kavanaugh. “And notice: This young man’s dorm room looks just like Kavanaugh’s!”

Shouldn’t a guy in his position resign? I mean, wouldn’t that be the ethical thing to do?

One small editorial comment “tweeting a baseless theory” sounds innocent. Rather “publishing a potentially defamatory story to his thousands of Twitter followers and the public” sounds as serious as it is. It’s easy for Twitter to seem goofy and silly but it’s time the Whelans and Trumps of the world stop getting a free pass for libelous or harassing conduct because it’s done through the open sewer of Twitter.

He was just stoking the judicial crisis. Isn’t that his job?

What with everything going on right now in Republican circles in DC, it genuinely looks as if the wheels are falling off the GOP machine.

Takes a leave of absence…that’s it!!! No further repercussions? He should not only be fired but sued. It is beyond belief that this guy was in charge of an ethics and public policy center of some kind.

Didn’t the article say that the board actually refused his resignation? What the fuck is that? Do these people even have their head screwed on ???!!

Akhil Reed Amar should write an op-ed in the NYT defending Whelan.
He should then go on Fox, whining and yucking it up.

Looks like he’s in “lockdown” mode

Sued? By a fellow Frat-boy?

Doubt it.

It’s all contrivance from a Dirty PR Shop. He won’t really stop working nefarious rightwing schemes. He drew the short straw to be the public face of a Psych-Ops Disinformation Campaign. Why has nobody interviewed the mis-accused teacher in this folderol?

The wrongly accused my feel the best course of action is to stay as far away from all this drama as possible. Don’t feed it any more oxygen than it already consumes. Sometimes not dignifying a slander by acknowledging it is more effective than defending against it.

Case of mistaken identity - Whelan was mistaken for a man of intelligence and common sense.

The guys masturbating out by the dumpster ARE the board.

Were I Chris Garrett I’d sue Whelan, the inaptly named Ethics and Public Policy Center and CRC PR into bankruptcy.

They’d pay millions to just not have to respond to written discovery requests that would begin with all emails. Just imagine the email chains leading to this debacle?
