"July’s job growth was driven by professional and business services (70,000), health care (43,000), finance (18,000), leisure and hospitality (45,000), and food and drinking places (21,000). Public sector employment also increased by 38,000 jobs.
The two previous months were also revised upward, with 18,000 more jobs than previously reported. May was revised from a paltry 11,000 up to 24,000, while June’s blockbuster number of 287,000 went up to 292,000. Job gains have averaged 190,000 a month for the last three months. In total, the economy has added 1.3 million jobs since December of last year.
While the labor force participation rate remained unchanged in July, the number of people unemployed for a short period — less than five weeks — fell by 258,000.
Wages ticked upward in July with an 8-cent increase, bringing the growth in average hourly earnings over the last year to 2.6 percent."
It’s too bad the people who probably need to hear this won’t, and will continue to support the candidate whose only coherent economic proposals so far have been shown to be possibly catastrophic on a global scale.
And imagine for one second it had been a republican president (Ya Sci Fi I know)

But Trump is going to bring those overseas jobs back home again, presumably by putting up huge tariffs (I can’t imagine what else one could do). We all know that prohibitive tariffs work fantastically well - if we hadn’t repealed Smoot-Hawley, we’d all be millionaires today.

So, as some of you may, or may not know, I grew up in the very middle class part of an affluent Jersey suburb. So, as a result, most of my childhood friends, whom I consider brothers, warts and all, are republicans. One of them, has gone full Sith and made the transition, with whole-heart, to the dark side. By that I mean, he’s a full-fledged Trump supporter. The others, for the record, are moderates and are voting for Gary Johnson or staying home all together.
Anyway, so over email, we had a debate/argument yesterday. And in it, he used the %1.5 job GROWTH this past month, as fodder as why Obama is a failure, completely ignoring the 36 straight months of GROWTH, and forgetting that one of his heroes, who he still considers a great POTUS, Dubya, doesn’t know the meaning of the word growth, and at the end of his tenure, we were hemorrhaging jobs, and the world economy almost went over the cliff. THEN he had the set to blame Obama for the “worst race relations since the 1960’s!”
Later, he said “Trump will, at the very least, shake things up in Washington! And, he’ll lower taxes, so I don’t have to pay for the lazy asses who want to stay home and get paid for nothing!” He’s a Princeton grad, for the record…
So, I’m sharing this with you as a reminder of what we’re up against. Trump and his supporters are ripped right from the scripts of professional wrestling, and reason and logic do no penetrate them. They take their talking points directly from Trump, conservative radio and Fox News. They do not do the research themselves, they take these pundits words as GOSPEL!
And also, a reminder that an ivy league education doesn’t always mean one is a highly intelligent person…see my friend, and O’Reilly comma Bill, and Cruz comma Ted.
