Discussion: D'Souza And Kelly: Liberal Professors (And Unions) Brainwash Our Kids (VIDEO)

Has something changed with the generations? I was an early wave baby boomer and my parents (extremely conservative okies) greatest goal was to see their children get college degrees (a similar goal of the parents of all my friends) even though they, the parents, had never been to college. I was so inculcated with the fact that I was going to get a degree that anything less was unacceptable. Does that kind of desire still exist amongst conservative parents today, because I don’t see much evidence of it anymore. And if anything the ‘fear’ of liberal professors was even stronger in the late sixties, but the ‘greatest generation’ recognized the value of education despite their personal political beliefs.

One of these day’s in the not to distant future Kelly’s kid is going to ask her if she’s a whore, cause that what Johnny said a recess today!

The funniest thing about their wild-eyed liberal bashing is FOX is doing EXACTLY what they claim the colleges are doing except from the other side, and instead of facts they use lies and fear mongering.

My, my, such projection.

Yea, those were the days.

What TLQ said.

Yes, and anyone who thinks that colleges and universities are NOT responsive to the squeaky wheels of parents and alumni/ae are grossly uniformed or lying.

Not interested in what a convicted felon thinks about other people!

I’ll have to go with ‘lying’ Dave.
Have you seen some of these college uniforms the past couple years?
Gross doesn’t even begin to describe them!

Is D’Sousa imitating Mitch McConnell in that pic, or are they both imitating turtles?

This guy is so juvenile. Brainwashing? How many professors ever really affected you?

Poor Megyn, Dinesh, and Rick Santorum. They just don’t seem to grasp the concept of “Liberal Arts”. They think a liberal arts college is where you go to learn how to be a liberal. Fox News is the greatest bastion of anti-intellectualism since the Third Reich. D’Souza could have taken his material straight out of one of Joseph Goebbels speeches:

There was no point in seeking to convert the intellectuals. For intellectuals would never be converted and would anyways always yield to the stronger, and this will always be ‘the man in the street.’ Arguments must therefore be crude, clear and forcible, and appeal to emotions and instincts, not the intellect. Truth was unimportant and entirely subordinate to tactics and psychology.

Intellectual activity is a danger to the building of character.

– Joseph Goebbels

Nothing scares conservatives more than intelligence.

The proliferation of right wing media is distorting facts way too often for way too many IMO, it’s past being alarming. Without effective, loud pushback from clear speaking elected officials and media, I think it’s going to spread further. For the record, not much hope of that happening.

I have a copy of a populat magazine, ca. 1947, [ The American Magazine] with a lengthy article about how liberal professors–some commies–were brainwashing our students. Strange, I spent several years after WWII at Western Michigan and the U. of Chicago–the latter supposedly a hot bed of liberalism–with almost no recollection of any political leanings of dozens of professors whose classes I attended. Why should anyone listen to D’Souza? His writings are mostly screeds and his views are about as important as pond algae.

I always enjoy how clowns like this guy or “Bobby” Jindal think the right-wing GOP nuts they associate with actually like them and don’t burst into laughter the minute they leave a room.

I love this comment.

Same with Cruz. Houston businessmen might consider him a useful tool, but I’d love to be a fly on the wall the day he applies for membership at the Houston or River Oaks Country Clubs.

Clearly their influence extends well beyond 0.5% of Americans, because their audience sure whipped our collective liberal asses at the polls this month! Repeating your mantra may bring comfort, but only voting brings positive change!

Wow. That’s a Fox Classic right there. 10 minutes of paranoia-derived screed on how a bunch of Uber-liberals are taking over America’s universities. And as evidence of this on-going takeover they discuss: a former adjunct professor who retired more than a year ago (Dhorn); a former professor
who retired in 2010 (Ayers); a former professor who was fired in 2007 (Churchill), and; a “professor” (Sragow, the one shown talking about Republicans) who isn’t a professor but a political consultant and partner in a law firm, and who is also a fellow at USC’s Unruh Institute of Politics, which is “dedicated to bridging the academic study of politics with practical experience in the field”. Sragow was hired as a guest lecturer specifically to provide the perspective of a partisan consultant (which the student who taped him obviously knew). Republican consultants also participate in the Institute.

Yet another mind-blowing Fox Tempest in a Teabag.

McCarthyism in the making? But this time, label anyone who thinks for themselves and teaches other to do so too (the basic premise of Cartesian rational thought) as an evil doing ‘liberal’ who can be fired or made homeless for such arrogance as wanting to think.

Why are they continue to star this utter fool and a felon too boot?
