I listened to an NPR report the other day. A border crossing point was visited. 200-300 people were there wanting to apply for asylum. Border agents deigned to let about 6 come across for official asylum processing and turned the rest away. The reporter said this was the situation at most of the crossing points NPR visited.
The government is forcing desperate people into crossing illegally, and thus committing a crime, through inept and inadequate measures to allow them to attempt entry legally. It’s not a bug, it’s a feature.

The GOP cannot make up its mind if racism is a winner or not. Clearly the WH and current DOJ is waving its racist banner like crazy, convinced that in-your-face racism is a great morale boost to their base.
In NJ, however, Republicans have pulled their endorsement from Crazy Uncle Seth Grossman, congressional candidate for the Garden State’s 2nd District. Because of . . . bigotry. They’ve decided that’s not going to fly even in the conservative South Jersey/shore region. Grossman did himself no favors when he recently suggested that African Americans were the biggest threat to blacks and non-blacks alike. And ‘diversity’ is a bunch of crap.
But really where is the difference between these attitudes? Well, I guess the big one is: lip service to vile attitudes/beliefs vs the power to implement those views.
Seth Grossman is Dead Man Walking at this point, his GOP funding and support spigot turned off. The same thing needs to happen to the Trumpster and his cronies. After which they’re frog-marched to jail.
