Just another day of doubling down on the inhumanity.

I want to buy this judge dinner. Such a relief to have a reality-based opinion from someone in a position of power.

More deliberate cruelty from trump’s minions at DoJ. And from cnn.com there is a story of a 91 yr old man being beaten with a brick. His crime? Being Mexican in the country legally and taking a walk in his son’s neighborhood.
There’s blood on trump’s hands

“The evidentiary record is unclear as to the accuracy of Defendants’ assertion.”
Actually, the evidentiary record is quite clear by now - anything this corrupt administration says in any court proceeding is not worthy of belief.

What is WRONG with these people?

It is beyond obvious that underlying all their actions is unvarnished racism. Just imagine if the migrants in question were from Canada. This approach would not even be considered,
What Trump is doing to destroy America’s moral authority in global settings will take a long time, if ever, to
restore.

Love it, love it, love it.

With the exception of this final line of the article:

The underwhelming evidence the administration presented, she concluded, had “failed to show that detaining families would deter future illegal border crossings.”

Even IF the U.S. Gov’t showed that kidnapping children did “deter future illegal border crossings”, that doesn’t make it okay. Even if the Roosevelt administration showed that the Japanese-American internment of the 1940’s had some “benefit” to the U.S. Gov’t, that wouldn’t have made it okay. Even if Andrew Jackson showed that the Trail of Tears had some “benefit” to the U.S. Gov’t, that wouldn’t have made it okay. Even if the U.S. Gov’t showed that cruel and unusual punishment has some “benefit” to the U.S. Gov’t, that doesn’t make it okay. Even if the Bush administration showed that torturing people was “effective”, that wouldn’t have made it okay. WRONG IS WRONG.

I wish I knew. But whatever went wrong for them, they’re certainly seeking revenge on the rest of us for it.

This situation is intolerable and unjust. Tens of thousands of deserving parents, legal citizens of this nation, have to stand in line behind newly arrived immigrants when waiting to be separated from their children.

the Flores settlement — a 1997 ruling upheld in 2016 that states that immigrants younger than 18 years old can’t be held in immigration custody for longer than 20 days. It also set standards for the food, medical care and other conditions of their detention, saying the government can’t hold children in facilities that can’t pass state child welfare licensing regulations.

So do we know if the states that have these facilities are being checked by the state? The 200+ kids that were transferred to NYC were a surprise to the Mayor, but what about the NY state welfare agency?

“Executive Office of Immigration Review data shows that between 2001 and 2016, 86 percent of family detainees attended all of their court hearings,” she wrote. “The evidentiary record is unclear as to the accuracy of Defendants’ assertion.”

Trump DoJ dude that agency she is citing is part of your branch. You didn’t check with your own people?

Still, President Trump doubled down Tuesday morning on the idea of the family separations as a deterrent to immigration, saying the message of the policy was “We have laws. We have borders. Don’t come to our country illegally.”

Orange dude your policy doesn’t conform to the law about separating children. “We have laws. " which you seem to have a long history of ignoring. Isn’t there something something 3 strikes and you’re out? Do we have to allow him break, bend, twist each and every law on the books before his base understands he is as crooked as they come?

Can someone, anyone, please cite the law that says entering this country for the purpose of applying for amnesty is a criminal act. Otherwise, stop this illegal detention and inhumane family separation immediately. Law and order, my ass!

I missed this one, but it’s one I’ve been thinking about the most since the consequences of his “zero tolerance” policy have come to light. If you are detaining parents for months before deporting them how will anyone else back in the Central American country of origin know that this is happening?
Yes it is wrong and expensive. Can’t wait for the analysis of how much this maladministration will cost the taxpayers.

I really wish, at the very least, some enterprising reporter would write about the costs involved here. Let’s see the millions and millions of dollars in headlines.

They’re persuing a stratergy. While Trump does many unstrategic things on impulse, on another track he is simultaneously following the basic playbook for fascist/authoritarian takover. This is how it’s done, always.

But it will pay off in the long run because these people will no longer be paying into Social Security without taking benefits. Wait, no, that’s not it. Aha! Because they won’t be productive members of American society anymore. Er, no. Give me a few minutes here…
