The irony is that, in this case, it means cooler heads prevail.
I imagine the conservation like this:
“Yes, Mr. president a strategic nuclear explosion over Damaskus would send a strong signal, but we located the exact airfield from which the attack originated. We recommend a surgical strike on that one. Also we should let the Russians know ahead of time.”

Actually, it has no barring on the Russia front. At least in my view. It shows that Trump looks out for Trump first. Russia could be second, who knows. It does not put anything forward that Russia helped him get elected.

The idea that whites (especially xtian whites) need to buddy-up to fight a war against the yellows and browns (especially xlamic browns) is what Flynn and his passel espouse.
