Discussion: Diehard Trump Fans Revolt Over Syria Missile Strikes

That’s very true. Jon Ronson addressed that issue in The Psychopath Test.

I hate to say this but Ann Coulter and the Trump faithful are absolutely right. Have we not learnt anything about the fatal flaws of neoconservatism. It is unfortunately rearing its ugly horrible head again.

I’d be willing to bet that the Russians were notified of the strike before Congress was.

Thank you. Trump is too much of a coward to call this shot on his own.

Could just be for show, with cooperation from Putin, to boost Trump with Republican moderates. The test will be the Pee-Pee tapes. If they show up on Wikileaks we’ll know the love affair with Russia is over.

I would hope so…or at least contemporaneously. Congress doesn’t have nuclear warheads aimed at us.

Didn’t think Russians cared about Christians.

Who can’t stand the thought of “small, beautiful babies” dying. Presumable if they weren’t beautiful, then, meh.

Some random neocon on MSNBC basically said Trump is an incompetent commander-in-chief, but let’s not let that discourage us from starting yet another illegal war of aggression. And Brian Williams waxed poetic about firing $50 million worth of cruise missiles at an empty airbase.

True, but they’re still willing to kill millions of Americans, or at least let them die unnecessarily, to advance their ideological agenda.

Me too. Except I daydream about food I’d like to cook. Then I cook it and I eat it. So same thing, I guess.

And therefore we should fumble the communications line that keeps the planet from nuking itself to death…???

After the war started Lindbergh worked hard to beat the Axis. Funny how people change when the shooting starts.

Yes, but very dicey to remove Assad and have ISIS or even worse overwhelm those among the rebels who may not be Jihadists or even a new Iran puppet. Unintended consequences are the biggest “known unknown”

Lack of a moderate opposition has been the problem since Assad started cracking down on Arab Spring protesters.

And he hasn’t even accomplished that. Obama is so far inside the orange noggin Trump can’t close his eyes without seeing Obama’s smile. That smile haunts him, mocks him and keeps him awake at night. Trump has already lost any and all battles he might want to have with President Obama. Trump is a putz.

This is exactly the problem that confronted Obama. It is hard to know who to help and how. We don’t have a great track record when it comes to picking sides in a civil war. Assad is a butcher but so is ISIS. God knows what the Saudis might think if we back a group backed by Iran. This Syrian civil war is really hard. So many sides and so few good guys.

Just cook three things over and over and over depending on day of week and leftovers every other day. This way it is always perfect, though admittedly boring.

I smell a rat. I think this may have been planned to distance Trump from Putin. I wouldn’t be surprised to find out that there was discussion about this strike beforehand and that Putin quietly approved it, maybe out of annoyance with Assad for using chemical weapons and bringing on this latest worldwide condemnation. Then he could loudly condemn the U.S. afterward, boosting his strong-man cred. at home while at the same time “proving” that the relationship he has with Trump isn’t as cozy and chummy as everyone believes… At any other time I wouldn’t give a second thought to this kind of conspiracy theory, but it seems mighty convenient for both parties concerned, and I suspect the investigations into Trump’s Russian ties are getting uncomfortably close to the truth.
