I am not sure if this was the right move ā or that it needed to happen so quickly, but Iād feel more confident if the decision was made by someone whose judgement we could trust. Trump does not do things in deep consideration. He is yet another arrogant impulsive uneducated REPUBLICAN president who thinks and acts from his GUT and believes G-d has his back.
I just LOVE these circular firing squads. Fool me oncetā¦
Yes, but I thought they would be military, not Gorka the Orc doing cosplay for Nazicon.
So wondering ā did they set off more sarin?
THANKS
I saw this tweet from an ABC producer last night and I also heard they took precautions to avoid hitting the sarin gas storage facility which furthers my suspicion this was a wag the dog scenario.
Just about everything Trump says is a direct contradiction to something else he likely said within the past week or so. It allowed the people who didnāt see him for the scatterbrained liar that he is to hear what they wanted to hear, and to some they heard him as an isolationist despite things he said in the clip you posted. That and his āAmerica firstā rhetoric had some of the dumber elements in our society (the alt-right Breitbart crowd) believing he was anything other than an average, thoughtless, shitty neocon Republican that would get us stuck in another Middle Eastern quagmire just for the hell of it.
Especially since Assad āremovedā all his chemical weapons in 2013 to prevent a massive cruise air strike. This from the New York Magazine:
"There were reports in 2014 that we had removed all the chemical weapons from Syria. But then U.S. government officials, among others, have said more recently that it wasnāt true ā Assad still had chemical weapons in his possession. Could you explain why the initial accounts were wrong?
First of all, prior to the civil war, it was well known that Syria had a large, clandestine chemical-weapons arsenal. They had not joined the chemical-weapons convention, which prohibits the possession, manufacture, and use of chemical weapons. There were a number of small-scale incidents of chemical-weapons use ā beginning in 2012, in various parts of Syria ā that were starting to raise suspicions that Assad was using his arsenal against the rebels. And then there was the massive sarin-gas attack on the outskirts of Damascus in 2013.
That led, of course, to the threat of cruise-missile strikes on a more massive scale by Barack Obama. His threat forced the hands of the Russians, who told Assad, āLook, the only way that we can avoid U.S. military strikes is if you agree to hand over your chemical-weapons arsenalā ā which is what they did. So 1,300 tons of chemical weapons ā sarin, mustard gas, and all the precursor chemicals ā were verifiably removed.
But after that, there were questions raised time and again at the meetings of the enforcement group: Did Assad provide a complete declaration of his stockpile? Did he retain some capacity to produce? And obviously, the answer here is that he did retain some capacity. Either he did not make a complete declaration, or he manufactured some precursor chemicals to make sarin in the two or three years after this operation was over. We also have to remember that there were chlorine barrel-bomb attacks by Syrian-army helicopters in various places over the past two or three years. The U.N. Security Council debated and debated how to respond. Just in February, the Russians and the Chinese vetoed strong actions that the rest of the council wanted to take to stop those attacks.
So this, in many ways, is shocking, but itās not surprising. I see this as the failure of Russia, in particular, to enforce its own principles, its own standards, with its client regime. Because it was Russia and the United States who partnered to force Assad to ā we thought ā eliminate his chemical-weapons stockpile. So thatās my best explanation for why weāre seeing this now."
But it is all part of the plan, A bunch of (donāt exist) chemical weapons are used so the Orange shitgibbon (with Putin and Assad permission) can blow up a bunch of really old airplanes. That way the Orange shitgibbon has a distraction from the Russian connection, Putin gets to long strong against the evil americans and Assad gets new shiny fast jets from Russia (with love).
And the shitgibbon gets the support of the Military Industrial Complex with an order for 60 shiny new missiles at $$$$ per missile.
Kushner v Bannon playing out on the ābigā alt-right stage. Trump can afford to lose Bannonās alt-right following if he can see his overall approval ratings rise into the low 40s.
Ruh-roh. I think Pootieās got a lot more military might in Syria right now than we do. And if we insult their guy Assad, they could aim it right at us.
No one is looking Tillerson in the eye.
With the knowledge and the technology they could always reconstitute their manufacturing capabilities. The whole thing is very suspicious.
The Russians could give Trump a huge gift if they would convince Assad to spend the rest of his days rooming with Edward Snowden to avoid being prosecuted for war crimes.
I know! What a lame copy cat. Despite the the rhetoric, trump is DYING to be as cool as Obama.
Read these closely, particularly Coulterās. Her issue isnāt that he got involved in the Middle Eastā¦its that he proclaimed the reason was showing sympathy for brown people. She has never had a problem with bombing brown peopleā¦its the very notion of showing any sympathy for them, even if its an act, that pisses her off.
This is an interesting Times article.
āIn Battle for Trumpās Heart and Mind, Itās Bannon vs. Kushnerā
At different moments, Mr. Trump has given conflicting impressions of his preferences. He has privately scorned the coverage of Mr. Kushnerās recent high-profile trip to Iraq,
Everything revolves around managing Trumpās fragile ego.
If they exploded the gas storage itself that would release the gas, which I presume would result in horrible collateral damage. Iām not ruling out that this is at least in part a distraction or throwing sand, but the rush to a conspiracy theory seems unwarranted.
I also distrust in general the de-humanizing effect that conspiracy theories have. One starts thinking of children as game piecesā¦
Before WW2, the āAmerica Firstā movement sought to keep the US out of WWII. They were a combination of isolationists, pacifists and Nazi sympathizers. Famous aviator Charles Lindbergh, who was the celebrity spokesman for the America First Committee, was awarded the Service Cross of the German Eagle by Hermann Goering.
