What a freak show Trump has unleashed on our once great now sullied nation. It looks like the electorate is reflexing accordingly and we have a real opportunity at retaking the House and possibly the Senate in 2018.

An expose’ on Betsy DeVos in Mother Jones for March/April gives an extensive look into this crazy bitch, her ultra-conservative upbringing, pet projects and warped beliefs. The DeVoses’ charter school movement has literally helped to destroy Michigan education in our state, which was once the envy of the entire country when I was growing up. Its also led to a resegregation of education over time…and that is no accident either. I believe in many ways that is the ultimate goal for these charter school advocates.

Well, her brother is Erik Prince, of Blackwater infamy. It’s not actually that much of a stretch when you think about it in those terms.

It’ll be 2109 AD before you know it. This too shall pass.

Imagine the damage these people can do to our education system in just 4 years (crossing fingers, crossing fingers). Hiring someone like Candace in that position is SO wrong - it’s like hiring someone that hates kids to babysit a child or someone that hates meat to pick out the menu for a BBQ.

Oh and may I remind y’all what Trump said to Black people when he was running for president:

“What the hell do you have to lose…”

With Sessions
and this Devo$ pick
sure seems like a helluva lot so far

I certainly hope DeVos will follow this bold move by diverting resources previously wasted on schoolchildren by opening an office to stop rampant prejudice against billionaire heiresses. Despite the fact that she spent vast sums of money – far more than anyone else – to buy her cabinet seat, Democrats were disrespectful enough to criticize her stance against grizzly bears. This has got to stop!

Whites aren’t the only ones who suffer discrimination in our country. Billionaire heiresses are the true victims!

The New York Times has bravely stepped up its own fight against discrimination, in this case the terrible discrimination against people who say things like "last week marked the 20th anniversary of the mass hysteria phenomenon known as global warming. Much of the science has since been discredited.” Or "…“one of those [motivations], I suspect, is what I would call the totalitarian impulse. This is not to say that global warming true believers are closet Stalinists. But their intellectual methods are instructively similar.”

"Bret Stephens was most recently deputy editorial page editor for Rupert Murdoch’s deeply conservative and climate-denying Wall Street Journal, where, in 2015, he wrote that climate change — along with hunger in America, campus rape statistics, and institutionalized racism—are “imaginary enemies.”

The Times calls Stephens “a beautiful writer” who brings to the paper, “profound intellectual depth, honesty and bravery.”

Remind me again why I should give one fucking nickel to the New York Times?

It’s winning, dammit, NOT whining!

Alt-White tribalism. Barf inducing.

If this continues many more people than just Rachel Dolezal will try to pass as black. Who’d want to be associated with these kind of people.

She is so much more (less?) than just grossly unqualified. For my money, she is certainly the worst of Trump’s cabinet appointments, and quite possibly the least qualified cabinet member in US History. But even more than that, she is dead set on dismantling one of the things that really makes America great. That I cannot abide.

Her and her brother are two filthy horrors. Of course, Trump wants both.

I can agree with you about the resegregation aspect, but it is the way that they are going about it that is so despicable–Holding out the “carrot” of a voucher for some poor family to use to get into an expensive private school is deplorable. Private schools are under no obligation to enroll students they do not want, and the vouchers will probably not cover full tuition for most private schools. What it ends up doing is boxing out students from poor families (including a large percentage of Hispanic, etc., students) while providing a nice tax-free subsidy for people who do not need it.

This, of course, eventually leads to the desegregation you speak of here, as well as weakening the Public School system. Add to that the religious overtones, and we have a recipe for disaster.

Considering how white women are the biggest beneficiaries of affirmative action, this is just nuts! Stay mad Abby!

It’s even worse than that. Some private schools will expand, and other schools will spring up, with promises of excellent education, discipline blah blah, and then 5 years later the new schools will turn out to be either complete scams or dominionist madrassas. It will be like charter schools only without even the minimal oversight.
