Discussion: DeVos Excoriated In House Meeting For Having 'Head In Sand' On Racial Bias

“Federal law must be followed when federal money is involved,” DeVos said.

“Is that a yes or a no?”

DeVos kept repeating her answer.

“Is there some problem? Yes or no?”

“Yes,” Devos finally said.

I’ll take that “yes” as she understands that she’s the problem.

“Is that a yes or a no?”

In her defense, who knew a “yes of no” question could be so complicated.

I think it was “yes” to “is there some problem”. But kudos to Katherine Clark (D-Sanity) for not letting DeVos DeVeasel her way out of the question.

No doubt, Ms. DeVos is feeling the same kind of frustration that Sarah Hamhock says that Trump is suffering. That’s OK Betsy, you have to come to expect the challenges and criticism you are receiving when you are absolutely unqualified, ignorant, and incapable of performing your job.

You must most especially expect to be called on the carpet after appointing a federal commission on school safety comprised of NO ONE who has any experience in public education, faculty and student matters, etc. Heaven knows, after your appointment, you are clearly never going to select qualified people for any work you may ask to be done.

What a sham!

“Education Secretary Betsy DeVious faced blistering questioning from House Democrats on Tuesday as they confronted her on gun control, racism and LGBT rights.”

Pop Quiz…

Which of these is the more immediate threat to school children:

  • Every week, for decades on end, students are slaughtered by the endless availability of AR-15s, bump stocks, and armor-piercing rounds, to any maniac with a pulse.

  • A transgender child needs to pee at school.

Show your work.

Just because you’re rich doesn’t mean you can’t be dumb as a bag of rocks.

Especially if you were born into or married in inherited money. (Cf. Trump, Donald Jr, Trump, Erik)

Ol’ Betsy DumbVos will need an hour or two to understand the question. That doesn’t mean she’ll be capable of actually answering it though.

Oh, the humanity!

I have no idea if Betsy DeVos is racist or racism-curious. She’s so breathtakingly vapid it’s hard to be sure what, if any, serious positions she holds aside from “public skool icky”.

“There must be walls and a roof in a school, plus gun for potential grizzly.”

DeVos is not racist, she’s economically-impaired.

She simply has no concept of what it means to be a regular person, with regular economic choices.

Thus her ‘let them eat cake’ mentality.

We should all feel sorry for her, and hope she recognizes sooner than later that she is woefully unqualified for her position, and moves back to tea parties where she belongs.

I thank the FSM that her husband lost the election for governor of MI in 2006. Looking forward to trouble for Betsy and Dick in the days ahead.

You just know Betsy Brain-dead wants to snarl, “Fuck all of you! I’m rich!”

DeVos added later in the hearing, “If there are going to be guns in schools, they need to be in the hands of the right people…”

“… so that they can shoot those who are left.”

I love your thinking, but really? You believe she would ever think that SHE is the problem?!? :frowning:

OT but not: Diana Evans wrote a really interesting piece on Updike in the FT this week. She’s a black British novelist and literary critic who likes John Updike despite all the reasons not to. Here is the link, I hope it works.

If not Here is the passage this post made me think of Evans article.

Suddenly, during the middle of the quiz, a bear will appear. It will eat the quiz paper.
