Discussion: Dems To Hold 12 Presidential Primary Debates, Beginning Next June

Ugh. It’s going to be a reality TV series.

P.S. I really miss Ugg.

This is no way to govern a country. This is insanity and torture. I have great envy of other countries that can do this in less than a year.

More and more I’m favoring Joe. We’ll need someone with a steady hand after this sh-- show leaves town.

The prospect of the campaign for the Presidency being not to far in the future makes me want to vomit, with projection…

Absurd. Just do your fucking jobs.

Way too early. Since they ask me for money every day it’s cut off until this terrible idea goes by the wayside.

12 debates filled with an untold number of candidates? Whose brilliant idea was this?

Question: Will the Democratic primary field consist only of Democrats?

Asking for a friend.

The reality is that this gives democrats a platform to attack Trump and put a non-Trump agenda before the voters. We can’t just attack Trump, we need to provide an alternative.

Hopefully this becomes more than just a exercise in trying to push for ultra liberal things like “abolish-ICE” or “medicaid for all” This said, it can become what 2016 became, which is (aided by Russian interfearence on social media as we now know) progressives attacking everyone else as a sell-out.

No, the “Democratic Socialist” who is not registered as a Democrat will be allowed to participate.

As well as the former Republican and Independent mayor will also be allowed to participate.

Now that you mention it, so do I. Where go Ugg? @uggswell_p_gravel

At this point it’s a little hard to get interested in some crazy thing that will start next June when we have a certified crazy lunatic in the WH. Not looking forward to yet another form of chaos.

IMHO this is a very unwise decision. Debates inevitably become a display of disunity and disconnectedness, and ultimately a kind of chaos. Let the prospective Democratic candidates make their respective cases throughout the next eight or ten months and let the field winnow down through natural evolution. Only begin debates when we are down to 2 or 3, maybe 4 viable candidates.

Please remember the circus that was the Repuglican series of debates prior to the 2016 votes, and the absolute disaster that resulted for all of us.

Oh, for fuck’s sake.

Is there no respite? Seems like we’re on permanent campaign mode in this country. It’s just exhausting.

Starting in June?

Way too early. Is anyone really watching in the Summer?

I’d start them in September, once a month from Sept. through Dec. Then twice a month Jan. through March. Then one more in April, and a last debate in May - should they be necessary.

Just my thoughts. Because I really don’t think most voters will be paying attention to the primary until after Labor Day.

No No No. Christ, why don’t I throw my eminently unqualified self in the mix.

I agree, DNC plan immediately reminded me of 2016 Republican primary circus. With too many candidates one with barely 30% of vote became a front runner. Bad decision.
