Discussion: Dems Release Claims That Jackson Drank On Job, Totaled Government Car

It would be awesome if he turned out to be one of those impostor doctors who’ve never been to medical school. I’m not saying I think that’s likely. I guess I’d argue at this point it’s possible, though. Would be awesome, is really the main point. And Trump would double down, but warily, and Sarah would have to explain why that’s more than reasonable.

Dude, where’s my Percocet?

Truly, this is sad. Addiction is an awful thing, no matter who it afflicts. He belongs under the care of the VA, not in charge of it.

I’d be a little more sympathetic if all of this had happened on November 9, 2016.

One thing that needs to be explained is how somebody with this sort of egregious behavior managed to continue passing background checks. I would think drunkenness on the job would be enough all by itself to be cause to bounce him from the job. You don’t want a guy with an alcohol problem on the president’s medical team. Or at least, I wouldn’t.

This isn’t just going to kill his nomination. This may kill his career. You would think folks would realize that your life goes under a microscope when you take a high level government position.

This falls squarely at the White House’s feet. They should have properly vetted him before even announcing him. This is not going to end well and it is all Trump and the White House’s fault.

Oh, ke-riste. The prescription issues are enough to sink his employment in my mind. I worked in the medical field the large majority of my adult working life – and if these allegations are true, I guarantee you there are other unknowns, many of them very serious in the eyes of any medical review board. No way would I trust this man running Veteran Affairs. No way. We will be sorry for it. God, Mr. Meuller, please hurry up, man (as best as can be).

Tester and the Dems go all-in. nice work.

Reading the information released, it’s laughable that his only denial was wrecking the car.

This may kill his career.

There is a discussion about whether he might lose his license on a physician-related subreddit
https://www.reddit.com/r/medicine/comments/8epcu0/are_the_allegations_against_admiral_jackson/

I’d say the opinions are mixed as to what the professional fallout might be.

Probably not though about what they should be.

It hadn’t occurred to me at the time we saw that astounding report we saw where he gave no factual information about Spanky’s health but only marveled at what a fine specimen the bloated, dottering person next to him had turned out to be, I’m sure you are correct. Whether he was on pills or booze or both, his being high would explain that bizarre experience.

And the WaPo bought it too, in an article this morning I see they have since taken down. Evidently, writing (true) negative things about Trumpsters is “a trap” that journalists have to be wary about falling into. Also reporting that Jackson was called the “candy man” was unfair since it implied he was dispensing opioids. 1) Why opioids exactly? 2) According to this latest report he WAS dispensing opioids!

Bingo - he even lies like Trump - government truck, government van not a government car.

Trump tweet - " I HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH RUSSIA - NO DEALS, NO LOANS, NO NOTHING!I" But does Russian have anything to do with you? Any Russian (or Russian cut-out) equity partners? Are you getting all your money from American citizens who immigrated from Russian or are American-born children of Russian mafia in NYC? In 2014, Eric Trump (ever heard of him?) bragged about getting all the financing they needed for golf courses from Russia, was he telling the truth?

This is what happens when a president is so poorly thought of in his own party that many competent, principled people don’t want to work for him.

He should start to make amends, wherever possible.

What the hell is happening? Really, everything about this administration is a shit show. Or a shitty reality show.

A few thoughts on this guy, after going back and watching his oddly fawning comments while briefing Trump’s physical. I mean, really odd comments, filled with ridiculous hyberbole, and unnecessarily flattering mistruths. Something strange is going on with this guy. A normal adult just doesn’t gush like a teenage fanboi over another adult. And he’s an Admiral in the US Navy? Just weird. What the hell?
