Discussion: Dems Gain On Generic Ballot In Post-Kavanaugh CNN Poll, Contradicting Other Surveys

Voter registration has reach record levels in Texas. Texas has been a red state for years, so if those people who just registered had wanted to vote for GOP candidates they would have already registered.

They didn’t register to vote for the GOP.

Of course, not good news for Republicans, but not necessarily good enough news for Democrats, because these are Republican Districts (and States) that Democratic candidates must win to gain control of the House, let alone the Senate. So, to say that because the Democrats only have to get their voters out to the polls is enough is not enough.

Not only will women make up shit, they will use their psychic abilities (which men don’t have—unfair!) to come up with true things about their attackers so that their false accusations will seem credible. Unfair!

“…, and suggests that we simply have no way of knowing which side is correct…”

Heaven forbid the Repubs might accuse us of taking sides. “We’d get buried in emails and twitters”
.
And that’s how they think.

Now that the thread is dead…this story makes me say hmmmmmmm in a happy way.

CNN gets a C+ from Nate Silver . CNN 72% accurately calling races.

Hadn’t heard anything like that at msnbc but i don’t watch the early afternoon shows (still can’t abide the ‘perky ex-Bushie’ or Shuck Tood).

But maybe that “4-vote margin” loss was projected when JManchin was holding to the D-line and Collins and Jeffy Fake were pretending they’d had backbone-replacement surgery.

Well Collins is already paying a lot for that goddamn vote, and I’m sure she’ll keep having to pay.

And Texas sure is getting some good press for a change: https://www.rawstory.com/2018/10/owner-texas-restaurant-chain-pulls-hundreds-thousands-dollars-business-maine-protest-collins-vote/

Thanks for that, bruh!

You made my bleeping day! :v:

Oh, please. God has nothing to do with it. It’s entirely natural that right wing blood boiled when the hearings hit Kavanaugh and entirely natural that this should drop off after he gets in - and that our side’s blood boils more now.

I heartily recommend getting out and canvassing (or phone-banking) for your nearest swing-district candidate as an alternative to poll-obsessing and MSNBC-watching. It’s the right thing to do whether we’re actually winning or actually losing. And it can be therapeutic.

Good News, indeed. But none of this means jack sh-- if these people don’t show up.

Absolutely. I’m guessing most people are like me in that I can’t do all this doom and gloom for long without wanting to crawl under the covers and never come out. I need hope, but a metaphorical swift kick in the ass doesn’t hurt.

O you’re welcome. Thank rawstory, really. hahahahaha It seems that some evanglical christians found kavanaugh a rape too far. I’ve seen some other signs that there is some rebellion among the faithful. They are not going to outnumber the Trumpians but it’s a good and hopeful sign that there are christians who still remember christ.

The pollster is actually SSRS which is an A- pollster in Nate’s rankings. CNN used to use Opinion Dynamics, which was a B+ rated pollster, but swithed about a year ago to SSRS.

CNN does not appear to me have a strong house effect at this point, and used best practices methodology. However, I don’t have any view on their Likely Voter model, and that may be playing a part. (this is to be contrasted with e.g. PPP which has a slight R bias in its results, something I am seeing in FOX at this point as well).

These results (41% R, 54% D) are “likely voter”, but then so were the Sept 6-9 (42% R, 52% D) results.

As I noted in a longer post, I think these results are about what I would expect to see. (1) republican/Trump supporters are coming home, and (2) undecides, and those who may softly support Trump, but really wish that someone would put some limits on the guy, are breaking for the Democrats.

The only ‘Poll’ that matters is the one on election day.
