Discussion: Dem Senators Call For Independent Investigation Of ‘Collusion With Russia'

And DOJ and Senate GOP will stonewall, and that’s OK–the drip-drip-drip of leaks will continue and the scandal will get bigger, uglier, and (ultimately) more terminal.

Why wasn’t this letter signed by every Senate Democrat? Looks like I am going to have to start writing my own letters to my California Senators.

Keep up the pressure.

Meanwhile there is this very interesting article in Bloomberg, referenced by David Frum. As he notes, it sure sounds like the Russian spokesman is reminding Trump that he “owes them bigly” and that they have the means to collect https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2017-02-15/russia-urges-trump-to-keep-campaign-pledge-to-improve-relations?cmpid=socialflow-twitter-business&utm_content=business&utm_campaign=socialflow-organic&utm_source=twitter&utm_medium=social

No Bernie? No Warren?

I imagine this is the first of many demands – a tag-team effort across the board.

But it’s not going to happen. It’s going to fail and that failure will be attached to the Democratic side of issue. It will improve the GOP’s position. Silly.

What is the tipping point where Sessions finally agrees to recuse himself?

I’m going to repeat a theory I ventilated many months ago.

  1. Trump is a pathological cheapskate.
  2. No way would Trump personally incur the massive costs involved in a primary. No fucking way. And that’s assuming he has the means, which is v. doubtful.
  3. No way Trump actually thought he could win, or even wanted to win.
  4. Why did he run then? Answer: $$$. Whose $$$? Russian $$$–because the pro-Russian cause (a vote loser on any view) is the only cause Trump has unwaveringly espoused.
  5. The Russians sponsored his candidacy in order to cause trouble and spread the idea that NATO was a problem, and that their activities in Ukraine, Crimea etc were just fine. Hence the presence of all the pro-Russian aides.
  6. Trump then wins the primary–and the Russians promise a big payday if Trump wins and helps them. Which is exactly what has happened.
  7. Russia owns the US president.

Hard not to believe that something like this is what has happened.

I’m guessing never. Only if IC or actual journalists have proof that he knew in advance. Then he recuses to save his own ass.

They know better than to chase windmills. No bill of this kind is going to get through the GOP’s hold on the process. Not going to happen. There are other things that can be done. This is beneath Warren and Sanders.

And I’ve read they have buyers remorse.

I respectfully disagree.

Just what I was thinking.

The spooks are pissed.

Good Luck, does anyone think this Republican Party has the honor to approval an independent investigation? Not likely, remember they are the Party of Law and Order and that means Law and Order for Democrats and the masses.

I don’t think I agree. It has to start somewhere. And all past evidence to the contrary, I am hoping that Dems are coordinating multiple responses. In any case, at least the Dems are reacting in some way, displaying signs of at least a rudimentary spine.
