It will happen when the GOP decides enough is enough and not before. Right now the GOP is “negotiating” for a compliant Trump. As long as Trump acts in a roguish manner, the GOP will be after him too. The trick will be in the timing.

Who is the committee chair? I want to start flooding him with phone calls about this.

I think that the more the country sees how bad he is and how unwilling congressional republicans are to rein him in, the madder people will get and the more likely it will be for the best possible results in the 2018 election.

But as the NYT pointed out, we need to stay focused on state governments, too, because real damage is quickly being done there.

A grassroots DNC would be exploiting this democratic feature, instead of hiding.

It already is.

I see Jeff Sessions getting right on that.

We need to say this to all Congresscritters, regardless of party affiliation.

I’m vaguely curious about his taxes, but they just seems like they are amount the least of out worries about Trump.

And, we all know that Republican members of Congress are just lining up to take turns at getting Donnie boy out of office. We hear them begging someone to give them a way to do it every day.

And, Elvis was shopping at my local Walmart just yesterday.

I can’t recall when the DNC Chair election is, but I’m liking what I hear from South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg. He strikes me as a man not afraid to kick a little butt.

committee’s chairman Rep. Kevin Brady (R-TX)

Its some guy from Texass…about what you’d expect. This is the guy that will be holding it up from proceeding. Time to flood this guy’s phone line or whatever else might convince him its in the interest of transparency to know who our current President is trying to fleece or is beholden to…

On a more positive note…

During his career in the U.S. House, Brady has earned a career Liberty Score of “F” from the Conservative Review, an American media group that provides conservatives with information on politicians.

The ability of Congress to disclose confidential tax information was added to the law almost 100 years ago. Since the Civil War, when it began requiring taxpayers to submit private information to the government to comply with the tax laws, Congress has struggled to balance the privacy interests of taxpayers with the public’s right to know. Eventually, Congress decided that tax information should remain confidential except in two situations. First, it authorized the president to determine whether any tax information could be disclosed. And, in 1924, it gave the same power to certain congressional committees.

Congress’s right to reveal tax information independent of the president’s authority proved extremely important in 1973 and 1974, when President Richard Nixon became entangled in a controversy involving his claim of a sizable charitable deduction for giving his official papers to the National Archives. Nixon initially stonewalled the inquiries, including making his famous statement that “I am not a crook.” When the pressure increased, he contended correctly that the IRS had already audited the pertinent returns and not ordered any change.

I felt the same way until I realized that building a case for impeachment may require them. Especially with the Russian allegations heating up; his taxes may have juicy incriminating information.

Yeah, a pretty glaring admission in the article. Following the link to the press release with the letter, it is a law allowing ways and means and some other congressional committees to have Treasury provide copies of an individual’s tax returns to the committee for private review, and the committee can then release them to the entire chamber. The letter is very well written.

“If these guys think I’m walking away from this, they’re absolutely nuts,” Pascrell said.

So put up or shut up.
I’m so tired of these guys finding “little known rules” and “forgotten laws” that will take down Trump, but they NEVER act on them. Instead, he’ll “ask” Kevin Brady (R-freakin’ TEXAS of all places) to do it. Let me take a wild guess at what his response will be.
So then what? Nothing more to see here folks, carry on with your impending doom.
Talk is cheap, folks.
