Discussion: Dem Chair Gives IRS New Deadline For Trump's Taxes, Dismisses Legal Concerns

Let’s just say I’m not holding my breath on this…

Does Commissioner Rettig really want to have to start carrying a toothbrush with him, just in case, every time he goes out?

It’s past time to start holding these jack asses in contempt.

I suppose we could look at this as Rettig being so important that he has other people (Mnuchin & DOJ, both at White House orders) answer his mail for him.

Did I say important? Impotent … yeah, that’s the word.

How many times will requests be made, documents not provided, rinse, repeat before something with teeth actually goes after these guys? I’m sure tRump’s lawyers have demanded that his taxes not be released.

You spelled “William Barr” wrong.

The statute is clear—“shall.” He’ll be breaking the law if he doesn’t comply.

And any accomplices who help him are obstructing justice. Lookin’ at you Barr.

Starting with Bill Barr.

Marshals?

Security people?

Cops?

Uniforms?

Squad Cars???

What part of “Mob Boss” do people not understand about Trump and everyone who works for him?

In the final analysis. Mnuchin and Trump have concluded that mores are not laws**…and they are trying to get that stone-faced fucker who is over the IRS to buy into that philosophy.

** For Trump, actual “laws” are those items finally enforced after 10 years of appeals

Is there a legal reason for this? Such as: “You shall send two letters demanding X before you can proceed to the issuance of a subpoena, for I am the LORD”? Because it’s extremely difficult to fathom why the House Ways and Means Committee would allow such a blatant and illegal disregard of their original request unless there was a legal requirement behind politely asking again.

It is actually a pretty sternly written letter as sternly written letters go.

I’m sure if the IRS refuses to meet this deadline, the committee chair will quickly give them another letter with another deadline to ignore. What should happen is budget that doesn’t finance the Treasury Department. Trump and his toadies respond only to force. And, Congress has plenty of that.

That;s the best photo of Man-you-chin that I have ever seen.

That “legal document” is usually called cowardice.

If Mnuchin butts in we’re going to have to call his Momma

It’s a see you in court letter where the real fight will take place.

The tone of Mr. Neal’s letter suggested Democrats are prepared to take their request — made through a little-known provision in the federal tax code — to court if necessary, initiating what could be a protracted legal fight over Congress’s oversight powers. In it, he cited legal precedent that he argued clearly showed the law is on the committee’s side, and said that the executive branch had no right to “second guess” its motivations.
