Discussion for article #225990
she does not actually support “most” of President Barack Obama’s policies.
Then why are you running as a Democrat?
I’m guessing it isn’t his policies that makes Obama deeply unpopular.
What she did is merely an act of desperation because she is losing big.
The bigger conundrum is that West Virginia is one of the biggest Federal Welfare Projects in history, yet it is trending Republican. People there seem to not know how to vote their pocketbooks. Another reason my head hurts. See page 2 of http://247wallst.com/special-report/2012/08/03/states-that-get-the-most-federal-money/2/
This is gonna be a fun comments thread.
Good.,and he should not support her. If Obama wanted to shake it up he’d endorse her GOP opponent…that would be sweet and stop all this cowardly Democrat on Obama bashing right in its tracks.
The worst Blue-Dog is still better than the best TeaBagger.
This is the best we can hope for in my native state.
The other choice is right-winger Shelly Moore Capito, the daughter of criminal ex-governor Arch Moore.
Believe me, Natalie is a far better choice.
With Dems like this…who needs Repubs?
Running as Republican-lite won’t work for her. West Virginia was never almost heaven but the environmental degradation from Big Coal have made parts look a lot more like hell. And people are still selling their political soul to the Coal company store.
Well, of course she doesn’t, bless her little heart.
Of course, that leaves the question why any Democrat in West Virginia should vote for her? What’s the point of trundling out in the snow and coal, drinking the licorice flavored water, to vote for someone who mostly doesn’t support Democratic policies and values. Has any Democrat won this way?
As a life-long Democrat in WV, I agree with you…but her anti-Obama shenanigans are causing me to despair. I fear they’ll only make her lose bigger.
Another Democrat who doesn’t understand that running as a Republican won’t make Fox News, Rush Limbaugh, or Republicans like her.
She’s toast, which is too bad since it turns a seat over to a TeaPublican Christianist loon.
Bad idea. Plenty of WVians are looking for someone to vote for that’s an alternative to Shelly More-Coal-ito. Cowards deserve to lose.
Hey WVA don’t elect a god damned teabastard PLEASE - they will fuck you in places you didn’t know you could be fucked. Do you like dirty air and water you can’t drink ?? then go ahead and elect STATE officials that are R’s but don’t fucking unleash them on the rest of us by sending the scum-fuckers to Washington.
And that is exactly why Tennant is losing by 10pts. Typical knee-jerk ConservaDemocrap. Obama bashing won’t change the trajectory of this race.
Well, I suppose the Manchinian Candidate, if one could call him a Democrat.
She needs to ask Blanche Lincoln how this I-Know-I’m-A-Democrat-But-I-Disagree-With-Them-On-Most-Things strategy worked out for her down in Arkansas.
I get what she is saying, but I think that this is a dumb move on her part. I understand WV has changed a lot electorally, but it has a history of supporting economic populists. Dukakis won WV by 5 points in 1988, and he ran on a very environmentally oriented platform. It overwhelmingly supported both Byrd and Rockefeller for decades. Tennant has had a chance to define herself in this model and, more importantly, tie Moore Capito to failed policies that do not benefit WV residents. I did not expect her to win, but I am disappointed that it has gotten so out of control this early in the cycle.
So, she’s a DINO? She would get to the Senate and become part of the faction at odds with Obama’s policy and legislative goals? She’d caucus with the Republicans? West Virginia could elect the Republican candidate and Dems would be no worse for the election results if that’s the case.
Does a soldier ask to enlist in the Army but state ahead of the decision to be accepted they won’t fight for what the Army stands for?
There, fixed it for you.
