Send in the National Guard. It’s been done before.

The Alabama Supreme Court is the very definition of “going down kicking and screaming.”

“…this duty…”

The duty conservative government has of enforcing a religious edict.

We here in Georgia thank Alabama for reminding everyone that we aren’t the most discriminatory state in the nation.

Alabama Oath of Office:

I,__________, solemnly swear (or affirm, as the case may be) that I will support the Constitution of the United States, and the Constitution of the state of Alabama, so long as I continue a citizen thereof; and that I will faithfully and honestly discharge the duties of the office upon which I am about to enter, to the best of my ability. So help me God."

Peckerwoods can’t even understand their own oath.

This is a breathtakingly bold attempt at nullification—even for Alabama, where nullification is almost a sacred rite.

What will it take to teach these intellectual pygmies that ANY federal court decision supersedes any state court decision?

They keep this BS up and Obama will have to federalize the Alabama National Guard.

Troops.

And a longer occupation.

Although at this point, I’m prepared to argue that the experiment is a failure, and they should be shown the door.

Where’s George Wallace when you need him?
Somebody dig him up and station him on the courthouse steps–or the wedding registry desk at Crate & Barrel.

As it has done for approximately two centuries,

Then you’ve been doing it WRONG for two centuries.

they don’t care because either (a) they’ll be dead or (b) they’ll make “heartfelt” apologies for being ignorant and scared, and the rest of us will forgive them. also, they’re too stupid to understand anything beyond this moment, or outside their own sphere of experience.

fuck these backwards ass hillbillies. they should be mocked until death, no accepted apologies. ever.

Hmmmm, well, for “almost two centuries” Alabama Law also made marriage between people of different RACES illegal (miscegenation.) Does that mean you should also not allow blacks and whites to get married because of “tradition”?
For almost two centuries “Alabama Law” made it legal for one human to OWN another as property. Should that be a basis for re-introducing Slavery?
Shall Alabama secede from the Union again because “it has legal precedent” because it did it before in 1861?
It never ceases to amaze me how badly educated Redneck Tea-Baggers are. Especially ones on a State Supreme Court.

Alabama will never fail to remind all Americans of their treasonous legacy of disloyalty and their eternal role as the albatross around America’s neck.

Fun Fact: Mitch McConnell is not a native of Kentucky; he is originally from Alabama. The rotten apple does not fall far from the diseased tree.

Why do we coddle these backwards criminals? All those breaking federal laws should be in federal prison, starting with Moore, and any judge who flagrantly breaks the law. It’s religion that is so destructive, and here it is again destroying more lives.

“As it has done for approximately two centuries, Alabama law allows for ‘marriage’ between only one man and one woman,”

I’m betting that a similar argument was used against interracial marriage.

…and for slavery.
