Discussion: Deaths Of Six Men Tied To Ferguson Protests Prompt Fear Of Sinister Connection

This is so sad. Even if none of the deaths are directly related to protests itā€™s really freakin sad what this community has been through and continues to go through.

Yeah, whatā€™s the big deal? Only two of them were murdered (that we know of or are admitting). And then thereā€™s a few suicides, and maybe an OD. Just another day in Ferguson.

FFS.

Just no. Let the crazies peddle this, not TPM.

:flashlight: Iā€™d give this article a thumbā€™s up for the importance of the information but the symbol implies approval. That hesitation has prevented me from giving props for numerous articles. Petty, I know, but I would prefer a flashlight to a thumb.

You donā€™t think thereā€™s enough there to bear investigation? People rarely commit suicide by torching their cars.

See Eric Garland and Sarah Kendzior.

I donā€™t think our gubment was behind September 11th.
Vaccinations save lives, and donā€™t cause autism.

But this is fishy. Very fishy. Especially the suicide by hanging and the torched cars. If you donā€™t think the police would conspire to murder people or cover up murder, see frontlineā€™s ā€˜death in st. augustineā€™

These deaths may highlight the difficult, violent problems plaguing these communities, including drugs, gangs, and unemployment, and thatā€™s important, but evidence of some nefarious, targeted conspiracy? Please. This is even more nonsense than the ā€œon his knees, ā€˜donā€™t shootā€™ā€ lies that triggered the riots in the first place.

I love this site, but Iā€™m embarrassed that TPM is giving this monense a forum. Weā€™re supposed to be the reality-based community here ā€” leave this crazy, unhinged garbage for Kos.

These things canā€™t actually be happening because President Moron told us he doesnā€™t think thereā€™s been a surge in white supremacy since he became President Moron.

Allow me to suggest making a donation to the Ferguson Public Library http://ferguson.lib.mo.us/ , famous for staying open and hosting classes while schools were closed during the disruptions of 2014. Thank you.

I think there is. I find this series of ā€˜coincidencesā€™ quite chilling.

My first thought was the Klan.

The bodies left in burnt out cars especially sound like the Klan. As does the purported suicide by hanging.

Iā€™m a little suspicious about the man found hanging in a tree. Itā€™s just a little too reminiscent of white supremacist lynchings. But even if he committed suicide, the other murders and the very real harassment thatā€™s been recorded highlight a culture of violence and intimidation. Why is the FBI not looking into this?

I disagree. This is the type of article that enhances the value of TPM to me. It addresses an issue that matters very much within the black community, but does not get attention from large press outlets that donā€™t want to stir up the ā€œBlack Live Matter/Blue Lives Matterā€ hornet nest.

Racism is deeply embedded in this country. Six people who put themselves on the front line of fighting institutional racism have died. The people and agencies tasked with investigating those deaths are the same people and agencies those people were fighting. Their deaths may or may not be linked to their activism, but reporting that people in Ferguson fear the deaths are connected is not crazy journalism. Itā€™s journalism.

ā€œItā€™s tough to come up with a motive without a suspect.ā€
That is without a doubt one of the most ridiculous statements ever made.

Two is a coincidence, 6 is a pattern.

I agree completely -

There is more evidence of foul-play that there is of gangs and drugs.
