Discussion: DCCC Chair To Help Anti-Abortion Dem Fundraise Amid Severe Abortion Laws

a conservative Democrat who opposes abortion.

Please don’t do this. No one, except maybe some crazy people, is “for” abortion. The question is a woman’s right to choose. Don’t normalize or validate the slut-haters false rhetoric regarding their true aims.

“When Cheri ran to become Chair of the DCCC, she made a promise to stand behind all of our incumbents in their campaigns- from the Blue Dogs to the Progressives,” Smith wrote in an email to TPM. “She believes in keeping her word, and she believes in keeping our focus on defeating Republicans so we can continue growing the most diverse Majority in our nation’s history.”

Explain to me again why we can’t primary Lipinski or Bustos? I sort of want to know why I am expected to support either. Both represent what is wrong with the Democratic party.

Fuck the DCCC and the vermin who run it.

To be fair, the GOP party platform, itself, is “for” abortion.

But only from the fourth trimester on.

I think the DCCC’s job is and should be to get Democrats elected, not to police the party’s ideology. That’s our job. We need to primary people we don’t think should be in the party. I don’t want them deciding on Lipinski any more than I want them deciding on Ocasio-Cortez.

After the anti-abortion legislation in Alabama and Ohio and Georgia and other states, this is just monumentally stupid and the pushback is going to be massive.

I have a feeling this proposed appearance by Cheri Bustos for Dan Lipinski will be aborted by tomorrow afternoon. Does the DCCC honestly believe that this is going to go down well in the state of Illinois, especially in a district in Chicago? Lipinski is a marked man in 2020. The DCCC better move their efforts somewhere else where it’s needed to support real Democrats.

Dear Dems,

Need to work on branding.

The term should be “Anti-Choice” for the other side.

Nobody, except republican politicians with pregnant mistresses, is for abortion.

Luvs,

America

How are they doing that? Can’t you run and fund-raise? Or do you propose that they decide on who is a Democrat based on their own perceptions of ideological purity?

"…so we can continue growing the most diverse Majority in our nation’s history.”

A diverse majority does not do any good if a sizeable percentage of that majority doesn’t believe in the goals and ideology of the Democratic Party. If they want to act and vote like Republicans, let them run as Republicans. I and just about everyone else here on this site are tired of the DCCC using our contributions to support candidates who don’t support the tenets of our party.

A major tenet of the Democratic Party is a woman having legal access to an abortion. If Dan Lipinski or any other so-called Democrat has a problem with that, then they can get the fuck out.

Nancy Pelosi and the DCCC have decided that Democratic voters do not deserve to have a choice in Democratic primaries when an incumbent is running.

They are trying to enforce this by threatening the livelihood of any political consultants who offer their services to potential primary challengers.

It is utterly un-democratic.

But this is all part of how Pelosi maintains her incumbent bought-and-paid-for power base. She is terrified of more activist reps like AOC.

Follow the money.

Excellent point. All those IVF folks should be prosecuted for murder for all the embryos which have been destroyed during the processes, let alone the mass-murder events when cooling systems have failed-- those should be sent straight to the Hague as war crimes.

Lippy is again getting primaried and Bustos is in a borderline purple district (d+3). #carefulwhatyouwishfor

They are threatening to blacklist any consultant or organization that supports a candidate working to unseat an incumbent in the primary. It’s a new policy…

This is something that I never understood. If a person is anti-abortion, it follows that they MUST also be anti-IVF, and anti-fertility drugs that often produce multiple fertilized eggs making it necessary for their doctor to perform a selective reduction procedure.
