Really? This is a show that goes out of its way to be offensive, and it is criticizing something Jonathan Capehart (on Morning Joe) this morning dismissed as the exposure of some inside humor. DeBlasio’s wife is black, and no one would mistake his kids for lily white. Anyone who has grown up with, worked with, and socialized with blacks has heard similar things for them— it’s like Jews making fun of how good they are with money or how they use their hands when they talk. (I’m Jewish.) This is more of the piling on Hillary by the whining class.

It was intended to be self-effacing humor – but didn’t work because the delivery was all wrong. These politicians are not comedians. The only pol I know who can deliver such a joke and get people to understand the irony is Obama. HRC should stay away from these scripts like the plague. Also want to add, I really miss Jon Stewart. I no longer tune into the Daily Show – Noah is excruciatingly embarrassingly awful as host.
Interpretive dance might have been a better choice.
Why did who do what? Hillary didn’t. DiBlasio did. Is she responsible for what someone else says all the time?
The only politician who can actually tell a good joke is Al Franken. Please people, leave the jokes to Al. Who, sadly but wisely, has held his tongue since he became a Senator.

I am Black, was not offended, and found the joke actually funny, although the delivering was a bit staid.
And doubt Noah would’ve had an issue either. Except he’s only reading what his white writers are putting into the teleprompter.

She didn’t say it, he did… I mean, sure she was likely in on it, but still… Also, I mean really? The Daily show is criticizing the use of MILDLY racial humor, in a comedic head-fake joke?
Under Jon Stewart this segment would have been a blast on all the MSM reaction to an innoculous joke from a candidate who is hugely popular with African American voters and a Mayor who is married to a black woman.
Stewart would have lead with being offended… by how poorly delivered the lines are… Comedy is not easy, folks.
I miss with The Daily Show actually had insight into the collective subconscious sarcastic outrage of the nation, rather than just a dull comedic spin on stories the MSM make important. It manages to be funny every now and again, but mostly it just feels pedestrian. God forbid it try to say something… just have a comedian repeat the MSM take on something that would usually just be a FOX News bid for attention…
It’s sad how far off The Daily Show is from where it was. It was Hillary’s fault that what? she was on stage when Bill DeBlasio tried to do a joke that he maybe shouldn’t have? Bill who has an AA wife, and children who are not white, and who has even said he worries about cops shooting his son because of that.
Man, this makes me miss Jon even more.
Edited to add: Jessica Williams is one of the only things still worth watching on that show now.
Seriously, TDS - can we not all agree that DiBlasio is not a racist? He’s the one who said it, but he makes damned odd racist, given his family.
I couldn’t put my finger on it, but something was definitely missing from the start. And that was not just because Stewart is a hard act to follow. Then Willa Paskin said it for me. It was published in January, but I think her point is still entirely valid.
I don’t even bother to watch TDS clips posted here anymore, either.

What is weird is that this stupid thing is being hyped all over the place. The Daily Beast has TWO articles up shaming HRC and DeBlasio today – one of the misleading titles is this: "Trevor Noah Rips Hillary Clinton’s Racist Joke: ‘Why Would You Do This, Hillary?’ as though she originated the joke and spoke the damning “slur” herself. This is deliberate propaganda – and we know its only because there is a concerted effort to depress African American support for her in the NY primary. The Nightly Show also is working this angle. Tonight Wilmore is hosting Sanders. They all know their young audience – so they give them what they want. Jon Stewart and Colbert attracted a much wider age demographic than what CC is going for now.
