The juxtiposition on TPM’s front page of a story with Rep. Cummings, an icon, and Lynn Patton, a puppet, is just too rich to pass up.
While we are it, drag Kushner’s ass to congress and question him under oath about that 99 lease deal he made with Qatar linked Brookfield Properties. Tell him to bring his toothbrush and a change of underwear.

I’m really getting sick and tired of Cummings posturing. He has subpoena power. He knows that he’s not getting any cooperation from the White House on anything.
so why isn’t he issuing subpoenas? The only reason I can come up with is the longer he drags it out, the more media attention he gets.
I’m not positive it’s about media attention. I think it’s about revealing the Whiny Administration as obstructionist even though he bent over backward.
So perhaps someone could educate me here: With this blizzard of investigations, if the WH just stonewalls, then what? That’s obviously their strategy on everything. Even issuing subpoenas, and actual wrongdoing is proven … what happens if no one (DOJ I assume) takes any action? We’ve never had anything like this happen before - a president and entire political arm of Congress who simply ignore the rule of law.
He will, but i think this is the right approach. By sending this letter, he is publicly demonstrating and documenting obstruction, and lack of good faith compliance stemming directly from the WH. This will force them to comply, or to be subpoenaed, which will make them look much worse in the court of public opinion. In this sense, Cummings is raising the temperature of the fire that is very soon to engulf the entire T rumpp family.
There is a process and a precedent to respect, Cummings knows that, he is not Donald Trump.
As more and more Americans get more and more aware of the simple fact that Trump is a MOB BOSS, the tide will continue to turn…and turn harder
I share this frustration. Maybe my expectations were too high? Or, maybe I’m naive? However, I’m becoming disheartened. I wanted subpoenas by the boat load. I wanted accountability and exposure of all these worthless shitbags in this “administration”.
But mostly, I wanted to brand that historic weakling and scumbag with the scarlet letter of impeachment. None of that is happening, or is moving at a satisfactory speed. Again, I may be impatient and naive, but I expected more.
I share it too, but I believe that we are on the right track.
Subpoenas are not some magic wand that makes the documents/people just appear. Particularly not when it’s a co-equal branch of Government.
Issuing a subpoena (which it may come to) will end in the courts anyway, since Trump is determined to cover everything up and ignore Congress.
So it really doesn’t matter which way-- privately and without subpoena, or publicly and with-- Cummings goes about it. He’s building towards the inevitable court case to force the release.
I believe he is moving at the speed of government. Not as fast as I’d like, but its how they do things.
the only reason that anyone would think it was necessary to bend over backwards for Trump is if they wanted to get fucked by him in some weird double reverse Cowboy position.
Then they have to defend themselves in the court of public opinion during the 2020 campaign. And that election is still two years away, which means that every Dem Candidate, and the media, can remind the public of T rumpp’s criminal behavior every damned day. The T rumpp campaign will have to use a galaxy of resources during the campaign to spin his performance in office as a positive, and to defend his criminal behaviors with Russia, and the T rumpp Organization, and the Kushy deals with Saudi Arabia, and his ties to the Russian mob, and his trails of money laundering, and his ties to so many convicted felons who had previously sworn their oaths of loyalty to him. IOW, the longer they stall complying with the investigations, the deeper they get into campaign season, and the harder everything will be for the T rumpp Criminal Enterprise to stay afloat.
