Discussion: Cruz: My Dad Was Cuban Socalist Who Wanted To Join Castro

Discussion for article #237960

Ted, you aren’t making sense buddy. You say your dad was a socialist yet he is now a preacher and an ideologue of the extreme right wing. Are ya gonna attempt to explain this discrepancy any time soon? Like before the election?
Your dad was a socialist yet was appalled when Castro said his revolution was a socialist one?? Help me out here Ted.

Did he mention in the book that his dad was also an alcoholic and a wife beater who abandoned his family? Does he give that any discussion?

"My dad was a rebel without a cause and I am La Pasionaria."

What a lovely and heart-warming story. Your review missed the part where billionaire hedge fund manager Mercer enters the picture and Ted Cruz decides to screw the American people to please his Moneyed Masters. I am sure that would be a part the young Papa Cruz would have relished.

I’m seeing a book, Ted. Working title: “Dreams of My Father.” I think it’s a slam dunk.

He’s compared Barack Obama to a young Castro.

So he’s FOR Obama?

He says his father was tortured. Beaten and kicked in the head.

So are the many black men arrested in this country, tortured?

But if water boarding isn’t torture, why is a broken nose?

I really doubt any of this guy’s stories like he was the only person not to realize Castro’s socialist revolution was going to set up a socialist government. He’s either lying or the dumbest man on earth or both. His mug shot was more than likely taken after a drunken brawl than in his heroic myth. This family gives shit a bad taste.

Let’s see, joining Castro to fight for socialism, or going to a Texas university? Sorry, the man sounds seriously confused to me.

So his Dad was and is a gullible true believer and possibly suffers from residual brain damage? Does Cruz hear what he tells us?

He’s not even a good grifter.
The best know exactly what others hear.

Interesting. I’ve noticed I’ve been more depressed since the Cruzes moved to Texas too.

Texas Republican Sen. Ted Cruz’s father was a 1950s Cuban revolutionary who longed to slip into the island’s eastern mountains and join Fidel Castro’s guerrilla army.

Things went all downhill after that.

his father says he was beaten with clubs and kicked in the head

That would explain a lot.

He can’t manage to travel a few hundred miles or so to fight for freedom on his own island, so says “Screw it. I’m off to Texas!” where the government (and the mob) is real tight with the dictatorship he wanted to go fight against. Then he turns into a fascist preacher.

And this is somehow going to convince people to support baby Cruz.

I’ll never get wingnut logic.

If Ted Cruz wants to put his father in the media spotlight I say go for it…and the media should treat him the same way they did Jeremiah Wright.
