Some Americans will take less. But it has to be in journalism. There’s a local newspaper with a job opening for a reporter. Editor said it was 25K max. That’s 12 bucks an hour. And you’d be lucky to get that, the way the news business is going.

FWIW my town and others in the area are busily passing antidiscrimination ordinances with tremendous public support. I don’t know if it’s a national trend but it was nice to see happening even locally.

Oh, there are plenty of white collar office jobs in the area (or even that you have to commute for) that pay less, some close to minimum wage & no bennies.

But most Americans would rather do that vs. being paid more to dig ditches or muck stalls.

I have to say that would be true for me, too, I’d rather work retail if I were to become unemployed than do hard physical labor.

They have a dream! They have a dream that some day, poor black people born and raised in the city to city life (because, hey, they’re all poor, amirite?) will leave the inner city (because they all live in dystopian, hellish inner cities, amirite?) and take up lives as iterate farm workers, bending, stooping, picking, and generally returning to the way things ought to be. And, if they lack transportation, well, sign here and your employer will gladly lend you money for a car at a modest rate of interest and take the payments out of your checks. Because they No Longer Recognize Their Country and Want it Back.

Indeed, anyone can just leave life in a northern city and take up a life of hard agricultural labor in hot southern and southwestern states. If any of them drop dead on the first day, well, that’s the cost of Freedom.

Not to worry about the effect of your Samsung. Give it 6-8 years, it’ll be dying and need to be replaced. Happened here. Unlike the tube TV it replaced which was 30 years old and no signs of failing.
