Sure hope that none of the questions on the “merit-based” questionnaire is about bra size…
Of course, the restrictions on H1 workers will not apply to Trump spawn…
Cotton went on to say, “And absolutely no refugees from anywhere!”
There is no job that an American won’t do. Americans, with the right pay, will do any job
Like in “Denomination Blues,” what we have here is an educated fool. You tell landscapers and farmers they can just pay Americans to cut lawns or pick tomatoes for thirty bucks an hour, presto change-o everything’s solved. Go and tell them that, you giraffe-necked sleepy-eyed Ivy League halfwit. With the right pay? I swear these people are going to make me lose my mind.
Yep, because the Drumpfster Fire has proven to be a stellar judge of “merit”.
Just look at his so-called administration.
Liars, thieves, and racists.
All bad hombres…
Maybe we should start with a merit-based system for picking members of Congress. And the presidency.
You are too kind.
Next step is a merit (points) based citizenship system, with the losers deported.
My system would use a slightly different set of values, skewed so that Mr. Trump is first in line - to be deported.
In fairness, many countries do use some form of merit-based immigration.
But those are based on fulfilling employment needs, or the applicant has reasonable grounds for seeking asylum.
None of those that I am aware of have the ChristoFascistRacist “merit-filter” that the Drumpfster Fire will undoubtedly mandate.
I love how these guys always talk about that distant, exotic nation of Canada… so far away and different. We’re like the bible - all sides use us to justify their arguments.
We do, in fact, have a merit-based immigration system. We also have a huge refugee system - responsible for brining in hundreds of thousands of Canadians who do nothing except contribute to the economy and obey our laws better than people born here. They’re not actually grouped together, those two programs - something ol’ man Cotton might want to note.
Maybe voters can back to having a merit-based system of electing people to represent them instead of mealy-mouthed fucking turds like this sonofabitch.
Just a thought.
Well… maybe some white christian types… If they swear allegiance to Jebus
Yes, it’s true: literally every German, Irish, Scottish, English, Italian, French, Danish, Dutch, Belgian, Norwegian, Swedish, Finnish, Polish, Hungarian, Austrian, Czech, and Russian immigrant to the United States possessed ample financial resources, had advanced university degrees, had spotless criminal records, attended a Christian church faithfully, and knew the Constitution inside and out at the time of their entry to the United States.
you giraffe-necked sleepy-eyed Ivy League halfwit.
And all this Ivy League halfwit had to do is look three states to the east for a real-world illustration of the consequences.
“After enacting House Bill 87, a law designed to drive illegal immigrants out of Georgia, state officials appear shocked to discover that HB 87 is, well, driving a lot of illegal immigrants out of Georgia… Thanks to the resulting labor shortage, Georgia farmers have been forced to leave millions of dollars’ worth of blueberries, onions, melons and other crops unharvested and rotting in the fields. It has also put state officials into something of a panic at the damage they’ve done to Georgia’s largest industry…”
Georgia's Harsh Immigration Law Costs Millions in Unharvested Crops - The Atlantic
And Steve Forbes’s publication took notice:
“To forgo a repeat of last year, when labor shortages triggered an estimated $140 million in agricultural losses, as crops rotted in the fields, officials in Georgia are now dispatching prisoners to the state’s farms to help harvest fruit and vegetables. The labor shortages, which also have affected the hotel and restaurant industries, are a consequence of Georgia’s immigration enforcement law, HB 87, which was passed last year. As State Rep. Matt Ramsey, one of the bill’s authors, said at the time, “Our goal is … to eliminate incentives for illegal aliens to cross into our state.” Now he and others are learning: Be careful what you wish for, because you may get more than you bargained for.”
The Law Of Unintended Consequences: Georgia's Immigration Law Backfires
And Mike Bloomberg as well:
“Carlos Castaneda watched one-quarter of his Napa cabbages rot in three California fields this spring as 37 immigrant laborers scheduled to arrive March 13 under a farmworker visa program were delayed by bureaucratic paperwork. He said he wants changes to an immigration system that causes his crops to rot unharvested. But he has little hope that will happen in this political climate.”

Republican opponents of immigration believe that these people will turn out in droves to pick onions in the broiling sun for 8-10 hours a day for an entire harvesting season.

The day your average white American works in the field picking carrots and blueberries is the day that our entire agricultural sector has collapsed and they are forced by starvation into doing it themselves.
They’re more likely to turn to cannibalism first.
By “merit,” they mean that ya got money and will probably vote Republican if you ever become a citizen. All the “meritless” people can just go back where they came from and die or whatever.
Refugees be damned! America for white christian people!
And which neo-Nazi or white supremacist would Cottonhead like to put on an immigration board or commission to decide who is meritorious of coming here to AmeriKa? Fuck him.
Nimrod.
T. H. White wrote a charming little novel titled “Mistress Masham’s Repose” with a charmingly eccentric scholar who thought that very thing:
Perhaps the maddest of his schemes was that, when had been made the Premier, he would choose educated people to be his ministers, just as one chooses a trained dentist to pull one’s teeth out, instead of going to the nearest quack at a street corner who likes to scream from the top of a tub that he “opposes toothache.” The professor was silly enough to think that if doctors had to pass examinations before they could cut out his appendix, then members of parliament ought to pass examinations before they could rule his life.
I’ve never heard this seriously suggested by a public person. I guess that’s because the current system works so well.
“Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
provided they meet right-wing standards.”
How about they pass a civics test?
Trump and a majority of Republicans would be #Epic Fail
We want only rich terrorists that dress nice.

I hate being this bitter this early in the morning… I mean…it’s barely past 7:00 where I am.
