Republicans have spent so much time demonizing PPACA and electioneering on it to figure out what they would ever do if they actually got into a position to repeal the law. They obviously hate the law and want to get rid of it but they don’t have damned clue how to do it and not suffer politically for it because repealing it is going to kill people. I doubt that they are even all that concerned about coming up with a plan for any other reason than to avoid the political fallout that will inevitably come with it.

“Why would we put off for three years?”

That’s a great question. Other than that it would put off the carnage until after the mid-terms, I can’t think of a single reason.

Get the 60 required GOP votes. Simple. Stop talking and start repealing.

they can’t come up with a replacement plan because the ACA is all republicans’ ideas to preserve the private insurance market against government public options, single payer. obama brilliantly stole the plan knowing that the GOP would oppose anything he did just to spite him. that’s why they couldn’t come up with an alternative in 7 years and are kicking the can down the road in hopes of returning to the way it was before. at least that way they can save face instead of giving that “n*****” credit.

Yo, Brook – what 60 GOP votes are we talking about? They’ve only got 52 to start, and they’re losing Susan Collins and maybe Jeff Flake, and possibly others. So even if they pick up Joe Manchin (really?) they’re maybe 9 or 10 short if the Dems hang together (always a sideshow).

Obamacare is a conservative plan developed over 20+ years, with some liberal additions (like insuring kids until they are 20 and expanding Medicaid) that people like. Republicans have had 6 years to develop a replacement plan, and have never put forward anything that could reasonably replace the features of Obamacare without leaving people uninsured, sick, or poor.

These jokers really think they can figure out a replacement in a few months? Everyone needs to be vigilant in examining their “replacement”, because it’s going to be Obamacare with a few features changed (probably making it worse for people overall). Really nail them with that outcome, so that all the Republican voters get mad about the fraud.

The only “replacement” these nignogs want and would support is back to pre-ACA where tens of millions were uninsured and those who were paid staggering rates to stay insured.

I mean, nobody’s saying it anymore now that the dog caught the car, but there it is. We all know it. The smoke and mirrors about “repeal and replace” somehow being a euphemism for working on parts of the existing legislation that don’t work and then just passing it all over again is total bullshit.

The ACA with some tinkering was always a GOP plan. As already noted, the only reason they’ve gotten on the repeal train and stayed there is because they spent six years poisoning the well that Obamacare was evil and should not be trusted. Well, in that same time WTF did you come up with that is better that you and your lunkheaded supporters would get behind? They had six years to work on a better plan and all they did was whine and vote and waste taxpayer’s money that could have been better spent on making the existing plan better.

All I hear is bullshit and crickets. And all I can do when they say “oh, totally easy to come up with a replacement” is LAUGH.

“It doesn’t seem to me that it would really take that long to come up with a replacement . . .”

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! gasp! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

“…are we better off on the front end right now just replacing it and being done with it,” Corker said, emphasizing again he was looking forward to hearing from Pence on the issue."
So Pence has some magical knowledge or practice in healthcare insurance?
And isn’t Corker being considered for SoS? Is this the philosophy that will dictate his style of diplomacy?

Now they didn’t think that moment was going to come, but such is life.

My question exactly. Let’s see the replacement Corker?

I know Shorty Corker better than I know Lamar Alexander (I’m just unlucky that way, I guess!) and he is clueless squared.

He has severe delusions of adequacy.

Like why wait until next year to inflict maximum pain when you can do it right away?

Let’s see. If they fail to repeal pretty quick, the base will feel betrayed, and will come after them all. So, must repeal quickly. If they replace before the midterms, the base will know they have been screwed, so must wait three years. The intervening chaos? Meh.

He warned the only hazard would only be “getting Republicans to agree on what the replacement is.”

This stupid GOP game must stop.

The subhuman is up in 2018, that’s why he wants it handled now. No constituents can suck on the Government teat like Tennesseans! There will be blood … well I can hope anyway.
