He should be able to beat Kucinich like a rented mule in the primary.
Ohio Dems can’t take anything for granted in this primary. Sadly, the lunatic left, the Bernie-or-Bust dead-enders, and the other assorted fauxgressive purity scolds are once again doing their best to be useful idiots for the GOP as they try to torpedo Cordray and hand the general election to the GOP. You should hear the stufff Kucinich and his surrogates like the lunatic Nina Turner are spouting — you would swear they are being fed talking points by Fox News. Their attacks on Cordray and Dems in general, and their ranting about the “deep state,” and their undermining of the Russia investigation, could be coming out of Hannity’s mouth.
As if his consistent cheerleading for Trump hasn’t been bad enough, Kucinich and his crew of misfits are now either knowingly helping the GOP in Ohio, or else they are utter morons serving the GOP’s interest because they’re unwitting imbeciles. You decide which is worse.
I can’t think of Kucinich without thinking about UFOs and Obama’s hitting the silly question out of the ballpark.
A walk down memory lane,
Well, he won’t. I encourage you to witness his debate performance.
Well the Populist and Kucinich have managed to make this a race about which I don’t care because I don’t like either one. I don’t like Popuists - they are proto-fascists if they are in fact Populists. And Kucinich is kookoo, too.
They are light-years apart. Cordray may be trying to strike a more populist tone to better appeal to primary voters, who tend to skew more to the left than Dem voters in the general, but Kucinich is a downright dangerous lunatic. All you need to know about Kucinich is that he has spent the last year and a half speaking well of Trump and speaking against the Russia investigation. He’s an asshole.
I don’t like Populism.
Cordray is the strongest supporter of the NRA running in either party, Kucinich is way out there and the Party had their best female candidates drop out for Cordray.(Whaley and Pillich) Each candidate is doing nothing to mobilize minority support which is essential if Democrats are to win the general election. Ohio is not becoming redder but the state party is way out of touch. Very disappointing.
Wait, Turner is a Democrat isn’t she?
I like that turn of phrase.
I agree that we can’t take anything for granted but I want to believe we make too much of the size and influence of the fauxgressive purity scolds.
All true, but a Kucinich victory would scare the shit out of the Democratic Party. They’re going to have to deal with Sanders eventually and a Kucinich win in Ohio would give your “Bernie-or-Bust dead-enders” all the more reason to take on the Democrats. Timing couldn’t be worse. Democratic Party really needs to win the House in November - even if Trump is impeached. Cordray should win easily but not being from Ohio I have no idea what voters there are thinking. Didn’t Cordray run for AG a while ago (in OHio)?
I was all in for Bernie but fuck Kusinich
First off, I like Dennis Kucinich. When establishment Dems were triangulating on the Iraq War, Kucinich got it right in his radical opposition. He also stood up for Cleveland when others would have folded. Richard Cordray is also falling into the Republican trap that establishment Democrats cannot avoid when discussing “Class”.
Because of the history of discrimination their is a link between “Class” and “Race”. Therefore, whenever you talk about “Class” you are talking about “Race”. Everybody knows it and everybody ignores or denies it. Ignoring or denying the link between class and race allows for demonization of the poor as less than equal and also further advances racism. I mean the one fact that should be screamed when discussing race is that it has nothing to do with ability. Therefore any link between “Class” and “Race” must be caused by a prejudiced society. But by not pointing out the link to race and reason for that link when discussing class, you allow the other side to use not only use racism, but also advance racism by allowing for the argument that poor people are less than equal because they are poor.
Establishment Democrats ignoring the link between Class and Race allow racists to take the high ground in discussing class and the Government safety net and is responsible for much of Republican success in states like Ohio.
Don’t worry Cordray is no populist. Rather, he is responding to the spirit of the times that Kucinich has seized by attacking Ohio’s increasing reliance on private prisons and Cordray’s activism for the NRA when he was Attorney General. In a state that has had 2 horrible police shootings of Black men, he can’t make enough public appearances with sheriff and police associations. At the same time, Kucinich is successfully blasting him for overturning bans on assault weapons that Ohio cities had in effect while he was Attorney General. Kucinich is no genius, but Cordray is serving up weak tea to beer drinkers. Cordray wants to run on taxes because he can’t run on gun issues, won’t attack the prison complex, and doesn’t demonstrate any willingness to help the cites. Oh and if that isn’t enough, Cordray’s running mate doesn’t agree with him on banning assault weapons, she agrees with Kucinich!!!
Bernie has not endorsed Kucinich.
And a damn good one.
I’be always thought so.
Only the useful idiots for the GOP are interested in “scaring the shit out of the Democratic Party.”
The rest want to, you know, actually have Dems win elections. This is a winnable Governorship, unless the Bernie Bros Unicorn Brigade tanks it.
Nina Turner is a fucking lunatic. She was among the worst of the worst of the Bernie-or-Bust dead-enders, gleefully spouting every GOP smear of Hillary Clinton. She Sarandoned herself into asshole territory, and shares responsibility for giving us Trump.
