I’m thinking the equivalent of a “Silkwood shower” might be a good start.
O/T
Ford Chief Executive Officer Jim Hackett said in an email to employees that the cuts include both voluntary buyouts and layoffs, and a spokesman added it freezes open positions as well. About 2,300 of the affected people are employed in the United States, the spokesman said.
AND they’re just fine with letting him destroy the country for an additional four years. No problem.
The age old paradox, turning intent into action…if these people are convinced of the obvious, that Trump is bat guano crazy, they need to find a way to take that leap of courage to stand up and say so,the rest is the continuation of political rope a dope…wasting our time every single day.
It WILL cost them - in the end. Unfortunately, it might be the end for the rest of us too. With every passing day, they have to add to the pile of rationalizations. And then think - six more years … maybe they’ll all have heart attacks from the stress of it.
And yet the unemployment rate will be somehow unaffected. None of these massive layoffs, a la Carrier, Harley Davidson and such, have had any impact.
I’m just not convinced things are as good as marketed.
Not only that, their brows are deeply furrowed.
Except for former JAG-Off, Lindsey Graham, of course. He’s pissed at any traitor who would dare speak or think ill of his most wonderfulest love object EVAH!!
my right wing midwest father inlaw’s soy bean farm ought to be reaping the rewards of the tariffs really soon too, oh well for my sons’ inheritance from there, his family has only owned the farm for several generations, but I am sure it will look good in the corporate ag portfolio next year
Well, maybe if trump, at his next SOTU speech, whips out an Uzi and sprays a magazine’s worth of bullets at the GOP part of the audience… maybe that would induce the survivors to be rid of him. But certainly grilling a fetus on the WH lawn would not change any GOP minds.
there’s a “big difference” between believing something is “borderline or actually illegal” and saying they would vote to impeach the president.
A succinct statement of the problem commonly known as the GOP Senate. They swear an oath to “support and defend the Constitution,” they are presented with evidence that Trump has engaged in “borderline or actually illegal” conduct, but will not uphold their duty to impeach him for high crimes or misdemeanors. In the interest of bothsiderism, the same can be said of House Democrats who will not even begin investigations into activities that could lay the groundwork for considering articles of impeachment.
Talked to my US Rep. yesterday at a little birthday gathering. He said the only thing that will move Democratic leadership is a strong show of public support for investigations and the best way to demonstrate that support is to write letters to your senators and representatives even when you feel, as I do with him, that you are preaching to the choir. The letters let him say that he is representing his constituents rather than acting on his own. So start writing.
I asked him what it is going to take for Nadler to understand that a series of sternly worded letters is not enough and it’s time for him to get off his ass and do something. That was actually the prelude to his comment about public opinion. He also said the House Judiciary Committee is going to turn up the volume.
And they think they are being so cute…
Farmers, barbers, mechanics, factory workers know about the gymnastics you can do with adverbs, adjectives and other qualifiers.
There was a Newsweek story on this in the late 1960s…dealing with people bullskating on the Vietnam War…at a time when most young men were terrified of the Draft.
And, by the way, that’s the real point of my post. Most people here, for example, are not kids. The kids are not engaged politicaliy (spare me the demonstrators and protesters who are visible but do not outnumber the drones).
If Trump was saber-rattling Iran with a Military Draft/Military S.O.P… like the 1960s, he would have been tarred and feathered, Amash or NO Amash…
Did he say what he’s planning to do about subpoenas that are being ignored by the GOP side of the investigations?
Hard to have investigations when the parties can’t sit down together and discuss.
Republicans have no loyalty to this country. They are only loyal to and represent the oligarchy, from whatever nation, including Russia. And oligarchs are only interested in increasing their wealth and power, because for those people, enough is always more.
Keep in mind there was close to full employment during many years of the post war boom. But there were good full time manufacturing jobs with good benefits. Folks could go to state colleges, at least in CA, for next to nothing. Uber and Lyft drivers, for example, are now, like folks in many other jobs, considered independent contractors. Nowadays, folks are lucky if the get 2 weeks combined annual and sick leave. Hell, there’s always near full employment for serfs in a feudal state.
If so many Republicans are saying this behind closed doors, why can’t some brave soul record the conversation and leak it? I feel like the Democrats are bending over backwards trying to normalize the GOP insanity rather than addressing it.
Hot…very hot tar please.
If they’re not being public then it doesn’t matter
They’re just use to having the Democrats come in and clean up their mess but not this time Bubba!
Follow the leader, Cadet Bone spurs.
