The term for them is “chicken shits”.
I’m hoping this “revelation” will cause the Traitor-in-Chief to tweet something so insane, that even Traitor Turtle decides it’s time for the Traitor-in-Chief.to go.
I swear, I crack myself up sometimes.
GOProfiles in Cowardice…
“I have not spoken to a single Republican senator who would vote to remove the president,” he said.
What would it take to induce them to remove Trump, I wonder? Something, that, when they finally act, would have already caused irreparable damage to the nation. Any fool can see where this grotesquerie of a president and administration is going.
“I have not spoken to a single Republican senator who would vote to remove the president,” he said.
Trump could film himself raping an infant and show it at his rallies and 20 GOP Senators could not be cobbled together to vote to convict in an impeachment trial.
Lest you forget, he cannot be charged for a child rape while holding office. Nor for publicly showing it.
None of that is snark. You would not get to 67 Senators, even under those circumstances.
Privately agreeing while not publicly speaking out = cowardice of the worst order.
And read this from Jennifer Rubin: https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2019/05/19/why-justin-amash-stands-alone/?utm_term=.0aa0c1e231fe
Explains the GOP mindset neatly and distinctly.
Never gonna happen. No matter what else he does, Trump as President gives McConnell the most important thing and maybe the only thing that matters.
Control over appointing the SC justices. We are at a point where abortion becoming illegal in wide areas of the country isn’t a distant possibility. It’s already happened.
Unfortunately the “left” was too stupid in 2016, and possibly (hopefully not) in 2020 to realize that it wasn’t blackmail for Dem candidates to point out that control of the Supreme Court was ridiculously important in the elections.
Amash has definitely started something, and now that this conversation is out there, it could lead to something. Permission has been granted to broach the subject.
“The darkest places in hell are reserved for those who maintain their neutrality in times of moral crisis.” – Dante Alighieri
P.S. There is an even darker place in hell for those who outwardly support the person causing the moral crisis.
At this point, I would be perfectly happy with impeachment and acquittal. It would prove, once and for all, that Donald Trump is a cheap crook who has no business in the White House. Let him finish his term, depart and then be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. And who knows; after proper hearings and a trial in the Senate, some minds might be changed. “Sunlight is the best disinfectant,” after all, and boy, does the body politic need some disinfecting.
So what I hear Coons saying is we all know tRump is toxic to America, but since he is from the GOP, he’s our guy and we will support him to the end.
I wish the Democrats would learn this lesson.

I edited this for clarity, Chris.
Republicans are cowards, no news here.
But not enough to speak up and do something about it.
Not at all impressed with the party over country nonsense.
Not sure industrial strength Lysol would be effective here.
They’ll need to completely fumigate the WH before January 2021.
Remember Mr. Coons, a crime is not a necessity for a bill of impeachment to happen. If there were 67 possible votes to convict in the Senate trump would have already been impeached and awaiting a Senate trial.
They not only “privately agree” but are also openly concerned.
The ONLY things: Perceived downside risk to their careers/reputations/bank accts by staying on the SS Trump.
Yet when they do, they will be shocked! shocked! and that they had no idea…
don’t give them cover as having some level of “reason” behind the scenes,
many of us deeply hope that their version of our republic isn’t as corrupted as the Republicans have caused it to be, and continue to do nothing to resolve in front of the scenes, but don’t give them cover, make them either own it by saying nothing or getting off their ass and making the republic what it should be
republicans “private” conversations have no value
