Discussion: Conservatives Seethe As House Passes Debt Deal Trump Struck With Dems

Rep. Dave Brat (R-VA) said he thought Mnuchin’s arguments in the meeting were “intellectually insulting.”

One wonders how something that does not exist can be insulted???

Honest to God…they are ‘seething’??? WhoTF cares? They have singlehandedly made it impossible for a majority, bipartisan or not, to pay our bills in this country. So now we CAN at least for three months and they’re seething instead of pulling up their big boy panties and GETTING THE FK TO WORK? Screw 'em.

Just think of the legislative achievements Trump could have if he worked with Dems on everything: Improved health care, fairer tax code, possibly even immigration reform. Not likely to happen, but something for these whiny feifdumb bitches to think about.

Hitting the debt ceiling is not the time to argue fiscal responsibility. They should be spending all their other time working on fiscal responsibility but are too stupid and impotent.

I think Democrats should troll Republicans by proposing they get rid of the debt ceiling. The President thinks that is a great idea and in reality it is, but Republicans love to play them some politics with the debt ceiling so they oppose removing it.

Conservatives perpetually seethe.

That would require their being honest about what is needed for a solid economic stance - raised taxes.

House conservatives were fuming Friday morning as the Republican conference voted on a deal President Donald Trump struck with Democrats

Only in the GOP does bipartisan mean never having to work with Democrats.

“How in the world did we get trapped into linking a clean debt ceiling increase over the long run with Harvey funding? To me that’s very cynical."

In the hallowed words of the NRA as channeled by Pruitt, it’s too soon to talk about how to pay the bill and insensitive to the victims.

At least Meadows acknowledged that Mulvaney has a different job and different boss now and lauded the flexibility of his strongly held core principles.

I have to say that this debt ceiling vote has sailed through the Senate and now House.

It’s almost like a hot potato they want out of there as fast as possible.

They may even get it to T-rumpus’ desk for signature before he changes his mind on it.

Is it the pivot we are seeing ?

Trump going Dem ?

Faking love for Ryan and McConnell and the rest of the hicks too tiring and Schumer such a nice fellow NYer ?

He’s too quixotic to pin any real hopes on. I say we applaud our good fortune and carry on as we have because there’s no telling what he’ll do next.

That’s true - but he is very good at promoting internal strife among the Repubs, it appears.

Don’t get me wrong - I’m loving this. It’s fucking hilarious. I hope he keeps it up.

If Brat doesn’t like it, I’m all for it.

Lie to your constituents about the very definition of ‘debt ceiling’ for two decades and pay the consequences. Chickens. Home. Roost. The very idea of a debt ceiling that needs ‘approval’ is laughable. Get rid of it.

I chuckled at the Brat quote:

“He doesn’t get it,” Brat complained, referring to Mnuchin.

Pot meet Kettle?

And who were the other 3 texans who essentially just voted to put their constituents dire need of help behind ‘principal’ - on something that had to be passed (debt ceiling.) - In essence the need to “win” over democrats by having a longer period before voting again on the debt ceiling - was more important than the hurricane/disaster relief. Are these folks really human?

Somehow, my deep well of sympathy has just run dry. Here’s a handkerchief; dry your tears and put on your “big boy pants.” What a bunch of whiny little bitches.
