IANAL, but it sure sounds like they’re just making shit up.

Ah, those pesky, “precious constitutional freedoms.” Mustn’t upset the balance of powers, no siree.

I don’t know what to say about the lawyers who put pen to paper and shat out that pitiful drivel.

It’s hard to throw away a professional career, I am sure, but you have to have some self-respect. At some point, you’ve exempted yourself from the “professional” part of that, even if you’ve kept the career.

I’m sure this could be settled out of court. The President agrees to have his jaw wired shut. Congress agrees to withhold information from the public as long as the wire remains in place.

Can an attorney be disbarred for making a completely bullshit argument solely intended to waste the court’s time with something that is demonstrably and patently untrue?

Asking for a friend.

Banking on “Trump’s complete takeover of the US Government, and the riches allocated to those who helped him get there” seems like a sketchy choice. No way Trump will really pay out.

Best solution to a president named Don the Con.

Congress has used its investigatory powers to assess impropriety since the first Congress.

But nice try, Donald. We have some lovely parting gifts for you and your family, including [perhaps] all-expenses-paid extensive trips to the federal prison of your choice.

In a separate case Trump and his lawyers are also arguing Congress cannot inform the public of what the Russians are up to.

No, but he or she can be sanctioned bigly by the court. Sanctions in federal court can be yuge.

Trump will just have to shoot the judge before he can issue such a ruling. He’s exempt from being charged or indicted for murder while in office.

Not enough - would have to shut down his Twitter account too.

This is the main reason why the House committees should never agree to hold any hearings with witnesses behind closed doors. Same concept they’re having to deal with in the House. When they ‘negotiate’ with any of these tRumpsters the first thing they should stipulate is that if they testify it has to be where the public can see them in real time, allowing the public to assess for themselves the veracity of their statements and responses to answering questions. Not being able to allow the public to see these witnesses is wrong for many reasons, but the obvious reason is that tRump, as a showman and ex-TV reality show host, knows all to well that what people see with their own two eyes has more impact on the way they view this investigation and the way it reflects on his presidency. He wants the subterfuge to continue and the best way for him to do that is to lie about what people can’t see firsthand where they can judge for themselves.

They should never have allowed Hicks to give testimony in private. It just continues a habit of more obfuscation by this administration.

A rose by any other name…

Call it what you want, but Drumpf is brazenly breaking the law and getting away with everything he attempts. In other words, the rule of law is losing, so is our democracy. All the name calling, finger-pointing and foot stomping is doing nothing to rein in this attack on our nation. While we pat ourselves on the back for seeing how criminal this puke is, he’s getting away with it all.

Exactly. Odd interpretation of “informing” too. The purpose is to inform the legislature. It’s a sign of how nervous Trump’s team is that his lawyers interpret it as informing the public.

The nation wanted this, as expressed in a duly conducted election. We are Donald Trump.
