Discussion: Congress Can’t Inform The Public About Me, Trump Tells Appeals Court

Waiting for the “Congress Can’t Conduct an Impeachment Inquiry Involving a President Named Trump” argument.

Coming, hopefully, soon to a Court House near you.

Sounds like a really “serious” brief.

““The informing function is not a basis to uphold these subpoenas,” Trump’s lawyers argued” Of course getting informed is the whole purpose of the subpoenas, without which Congress will remain uninformed. What a loony circular argument.

“Of course, use of congressional subpoena power to receive from a third party a sitting President’s financial records will always be serious in that the outcome will have serious political ramifications”

Serious political ramifications for exactly one person in all of modern history. Every other recent president has been open with their financial records to avoid situations exactly like this. Meanwhile, this one person swore up and down he would release these records to the public following the audit he was supposedly under and was elected to be president by voters who believed this lie. This one person would suffer serious political ramifications by being made to follow through on a major campaign promise. He promised the people of the United States he would do it and now he says that being made to keep his campaign promise would cause him serious political harm. Remember when sitting presidents didn’t beg the courts to give them a pass on campaign promises?

Take this thing to court and them RULE and set legal precedence of whether congress is acting within its power…not these wankers trying to use the same legal shielding darth used as VP, which never went before the SCOTUS…

I’m sure he hired all the best lawyers.,…

So, now all of us love beautiful chocolate cake, have the best words, are billions in debt, an estranged relationship with an ex porn model and a crush on Kim Jong Un?

Almost 3 million said no, you’re not going to be MY president.

No, but we’re all untethered from reality, bereft of any firm convictions we’ll stick to and see through in any meaningful way, and deluding ourselves we care or will ever change.

It’s stunning that they’re trying to conflate the seriousness of their original argument with the seriousness of the potential consequences of the documents being sought. And using the exact argument again.

“Of course, use of congressional subpoena power to receive from a third
party a sitting President’s financial records will always be serious in
that the outcome will have serious political ramifications,” the judge
said at the hearing, distinguishing it from serious “in the context of
judicial interpretation.”

Unless of course, the financial records had already been released by the president and/or there was no malfeasance contained therein.

Wired hell, cut out his lying tongue and chop off his thumbs, it’s the humane thing to do to put us out of his misery.

We all expected this. So did Nadler. It’s likely she will be held in contempt and it shows that Dems are trying to be rational, procedural and reasonable to the courts.

Sounds like they’re already arguing that point in court in some sense. The real question is: Will the court maintain the rule of law and not be befuddled with bullshit and be compromised as well by this nonsense? These totally fallacious and bogus arguments are adding up to a big zero but if he gets one judge to accept his lawyers’ ridiculous claims, no telling where we go from here. Once the courts allow themselves to adopt any of trump’s lawyers’ monumentally stupid arguments that he’s somehow above the law, its over. All three branches of our government will have failed us. Its then that I will truly fear for the future of our democracy. The problem right now for me though is that the whole thing by the courts is taking way too long and there has to be a way to consolidate these cases and speed up the decisions so the House can do their business of oversight.

Trump is sooo concerned with privacy except when GRU hacked materials are released via Wikileaks.

Blanket immunity my ass. What the fuck is that? These arguments are bogus nonsense based on wishful thinking, not law.

“Dissipation of precious constitutional freedoms”? Who’s your lawyer, Trump, Jack D. Ripper? I’m sure he meant to say “dissipation of precious bodily fluids.”

Individual votes mean nothing. Nothing. The Founders saw to that.
