Stanford might be stuck with her, but I don’t see why any Big Ten school should have to carry war criminal baggage.
Cheney is too evil to care and Bush Jr. is too stupid to understand, but I always wondered what Rice truly thinks about what went down in the Bush Jr. era. She’s intelligent and I believe she’s got a good heart, so it’s got to weigh on her a bit that she’s a figure head of one of the dumbest blunders in American history, right? I feel bad when I run over a mouse. I couldn’t imagine having the blood of tens of thousands of humans on my hands.
Correct on the first point, not so much on the second…
Oh, this is so sad for Condi. She was planning on wearing those nice boots she bought on the night Katrina struck New Orleans.
Condi thought she was the one who must be obeyed. Students burst that bubble.
At least she was too smart to try and challenge Jerry Brown for Governor.
Maybe she can go back to helping Dubya "hay his wagon," if ya know what I mean.
Rummy told us “You go to war with the army you have.” All the lying liars were in agreement in how much lying they want to do.
Sorry THX, so many wars, incursions, etc. Hard to keep track but yes, of course I was referring to Obama as Drone King. It’s always been his weapon of choice.
“Obama didn’t vote on the Iraq War Resolution and was in fierce opposition to the war from day 1.” Now that’s funny. I looked for his vote on the Iraq War Resolution but was not able to find it. Maybe it was because he was “protesting” against the war from the cheap seats as a Illinois state senator. Let’s see, he was against it when he didn’t have to commit either way but was sure to trash Hillary as she was voting for it. How convenient.
On the day after he formally launched his 2008 White House bid, Obama said on a campaign swing through Iowa that even before the war began it was possible to see the dangerous consequences of a U.S.-led invasion of Iraq.
“The time has come for us to end this engagement in Iraq,” he said, saying he was proud he had been “consistent and constant” in his Iraq message.
What a transparent fraud.
’
You didn’t find his vote on the Iraq War Resolution because he wasn’t in a position to where he could vote on it.
And what are you even talking about? Everything you posted just proves my point. Where’s the contradiction in anything you just posted that shows he’s a transparent fraud on this issue? He’s been against the Iraq invasion since day 1, as I stated and as apparently you just pointed out. Nothing you posted shows any conflict with what I said.
Are you joking?
I understand that the objections were both to her being given a speaking role and to awarding her an honorary doctorate. I get some renewed faith in the American process because these objections were voiced and ultimately had some effect. It’s about time those who engineered the Iraq War felt some consequences (and I also take satisfaction in the fact that George Bush and Dick Cheney can’t travel freely in their retirements.)
If he were a “transparent fraud” as you say, that would mean that evidence exists somewhere that he did support the Iraq invasion at some point in time.
Find it, and then post it here. If you can do that I’ll write “I was wrong” on my arm with a Sharpie pen.
Those were my thoughts about your post, exactly.
Let’s compromise. Ugg OK with her giving speech … from prison.
“…$35,000…”
This is part of the underground economy of the wealthy. Speaking circuit, motivational conferences, boards of directors. Lotta money for them out there, and it often comes in 5-figure chunks.
It would be nice to make a one hour speech and pay off your student loan, right?
“Barchi and other school leaders had resisted the calls to disinvite Rice, saying the university welcomes open discourse on controversial topics.”
If by open discourse they mean she gets $35,000 and an honorary degree without having to answer a single question about her manifest failures as a National Security Adviser and Secretary of State.
I still don’t see why Rutgers should be a Big Ten school!
So you’re saying Hillary was right to vote for it? He can’t have a position unless he’s in the Senate voting? Of course you aren’t.
But your willingness to call him a hypocrite on Iraq because Drones undermines your otherwise valid points about drones and makes you look silly.
I’ve read, and re-read Darcy’s post 5 or 6 times hoping I missed something that would allow me to understand, and nothing he/she wrote makes any sense, even if I stretch it. It’s all over the place.
Benghazi.
$$$$$, always the $$$$$ They couldn’t win in the Big East. They are doomed in the Big 10.
I like how she can charge $35,000 for her "free"speech.
