ā€œHe’s a predatory businessman,ā€ said Monstavicius.

Guessing that bit of hindsight wasn’t in any of the marketing collateral.

ā€œThe building’s residents and condo owners had invested in the namesake, a 70-story waterfront tower along Panama Bay, on the strength of Trump’s reputation.ā€

Unbelievable. Trump has a well-established and well-deserved reputation as a litigious fraud. What reputation were these foolish, foolish people thinking of? It’s incredible that anyone could have amassed enough money to buy a fancy condo and still be dumb enough to buy into Trump’s phony baloney ā€œreputation.ā€ They all are getting exactly what they deserve. I wouldn’t buy so much as a shot glass with the name Trump on it, and not because he’s a raving asshole, but because I know that I’d be getting rooked somehow.

So, even though the town folks never actually saw any clothes, they happily agreed to pay the dry cleaning bill for the emporer’s new attire.

And the Trump faithfuls won’t believe it. I was getting a mani/pedi yesterday which is when I catch up on all the celebrity news in People Magazine. Trump and family are on the cover with a huge spread story about he and his family and what a great guy he is. I almost choked from gagging.

"The building’s residents and condo owners had invested in the namesake, a 70-story waterfront tower along Panama Bay, on the strength of Trump’s reputation. But during the four years that Trump Panama Condominium Management LLC had managed the property, Central America’s largest building, a team installed by the Trump family was accused of running up more than $2 MILLION in unauthorized debts, paying its executives undisclosed bonuses and withholding basic financial information from owners.

The Trumps had done all of this through fine-print chicanery, the board said. A clause in many residents’ purchase agreements prevented them from voting against the Trump company’s wishes. That allowed the Trumps to install their top employee as chairman and the residents’ representative on the board — even though the Trumps’ actual stake in the building’s residential area was merely a storage closet on the 15th floor.

ā€œHe’s a predatory businessman,ā€ said Monstavicius. But the Trump name stills holds allure.

ā€œIt attracted me,ā€ he said, ā€œand attracted a lot of other people.ā€"

The tale of the 70-story waterfront tower along Panama Bay that was managed by the Trump empire offers insight into the Republican presidential candidate’s business traits, and about the management style that may be expected from a Trump White House.

Caveat emptor.

…and T-Rump will disavow any knowledge of the fine-print…

This message will self-destruct in when I’m ready for it to self-destruct…

Somebody needs to start printing bumper stickers:
Dump the Trump.

Condo President needs to be an owner. So, Trump has him buy a storage closet on the 15th floor?
I assume this storage closet was on the open market and he paid fair market value for it?

trump has always operated this way… but the appeal of the trickle down of the trump name is irresistible to the wannabes. read some of the comments from his supporters – and all of them think he’s a self-made man; and that is how they all envision themselves… they too can be billionaires – if only the evil federal gubmint would git their hands off…

there’s a documentary of trump’s treatment of people who stood in the way of his ā€˜spectacular/awesome/best in the world’ golf club he wanted to build in scotland. retaliation included building land berms around those properties that essentially cut-off their views; the removal of power lines and access to water – leaving those remaining residents without both.

he’s a ruthless, amoral, greedy asshole. and he’s beloved by the uninformed and easily duped…

Trump plays that particular game extremely well, because he plays both sides of it. Its long been said that the game to convince people to vote against their best interests and support the wealthy is to get them to buy into the illusion that they too will some day be party of the elite club. But studies have shown that the real success of that approach is in pointing out to the downtrodden, that there are people worse off than them, and by voting GOP, they promise to keep it that way.

In Trumps case, its Mexicans. ā€œYou may never be as rich as I am, because I am so damn great. But at least you aren’t Mexican. And I will ensure that those people are always worse off than you!ā€

Failure to pay attention to the product of due diligence. Or maybe just failure to perform due diligence.

Sure, why not? What’s fair market value for a closet?

DT is all about bluster and bullying. If anyone disagrees, he bullies them and his ā€œplansā€ are nothing more that bluster and bs. GOP idiots don’t care - worse is that it is not just them that will pay for their idiocy.

Yeah, somehow I don’t think Putin or Xi or going to be impressed by some BS fine print in a contract. They would roll right over The Donald while he whines about how he’s going to sue them. This stuff works in terms of fleecing the minions, but it’s not going to fly in foreign policy.
