All Trump has to sell is hype, and fortunately for him, the world is full of idiots willing to buy it. He usually owns only a tiny fraction of the buildings with his name on them. Developers pay him for use of the name and the apparent prestige that comes with it. Donald rolls into town, promises the project will be the best ever, and picks up his check. Nice work if you can get it.
However that business model has nothing to do with how the rest of the world works. Donald structures his deals so he gets paid even if everyone else loses their shirt. I guess that is why he claims Mexico will pay to build a wall. Now, if only Mexico is as dumb as the idiots who buy his overpriced condos,

The contract clauses that are described in this article sound incredibly predatory and obnoxious. I wonder if they would even be legal in a jurisdiction with some regulation of condominiums such as New York. This also sounds like the Trump organization has horribly mismanaged this development.

Trademark licenses usually pay the trademark owner a royalty based on the gross or net sales of the licensee, not a share of the licenseeās profits.
There are numerous articles regarding sluggish sales of condos and rentals at Trump properties throughout the world. Some hint at overpricing in a depressed market, others link the problem to Trumpās business practices and purchase requirements being shoddy and onerous. Regardless many of his developments suffer issues very similar to those described plaguing this project.
His supporters will celebrate Trumpās ability to screw people through the strict interpretation of onerous contract language. Trump profits in the business world and the political world by the guaranteed stupidity of gullible people. But how did all these rich people become so gullible. For some reason, the idea of being associated with T Rump gives them a big boner.
