Discussion: Comey: 'Someone Has To Stand Up' To Trump, Not 'Slink Away Into Retirement'

Comey:

And so I had to make the decision, separate from [Yates], to leave them [such that] their only opportunity to challenge it would be to burn down the entire FBI.

Well, the idiots have risen to the challenge.

And they still have no idea where this is going to end …

Shit is getting real, folks. Republicans will be on their heels from now on. They’ll cave under the pressure before going down all the way with Trump.

They live in their own misinformation bubble, which sort of insulates them from stuff like Comey’s reaction today, but won’t be able to sustain hits like this for much longer.

Emerging on Tuesday from his second round of closed-door testimony before the House Oversight and Judiciary committees, former FBI Director James Comey…

Is TPM reporting from the future?

They bought in so far they can’t get out. It has allways been all or nothing.

Even when I agree with him, I just can’t take this smug idiot climbing on his stupid, self righteous high horse. Yes, real courageous, Jim. Wouldn’t it have been great if the person standing up to Trump and the Republicans was you before the election, instead of doing exactly what they wanted you to? Maybe back when you could have, oh, I don’t know, not thrown the election to the repulsive idiot currently defiling the White House?

Not much use for Comey, personally, but he’s spot on here.

“I don’t know exactly what they’re investigating,” he said. “The questions about Hillary Clinton and the Steele dossier strike me as more of the same.

So the Republicans are using their last weeks of rule in the House to prove why they got voted out of power in November? Makes sense.

“Republicans used to understand that the actions of a President matter, the words of a President matter, the rule of law matters, and the truth matters. Where are those Republicans today?” Comey asked.

Rule Or Ruin

GOTTERDAMMERUNG

The concept is so foreign to PRESENT-DAY American sensibilities**. And I wish my fellow citizens could be more alarmed at Drumpf’s mentality. This is it. He’s either the American Dictator or we’ll have to drag him out of the Oval Office.

** Civil War buffs… Was this the notion for the CSA in 1861-1865?

Comey got this right.

I’ve got mixed feelings about Comey also, but that’s what I was thinking about this also.

“Republicans used to understand that the actions of a President matter, the words of a President matter, the rule of law matters, and the truth matters. Where are those Republicans today?” Comey asked.

Meta-story here is that the GOP brand is really starting to suffer. Pelosi and now Comey are no longer holding back on the nub of what ails our duopolistic political system: one of the two parties, namely the GOP, is no longer fit for power, because no longer committed to basic democratic values. Once the GOP, rather than the Republican president, becomes the focus of mainstream ire (as it should have been for years), we have a chance of getting out of this mess.

Which reminds me: Republicans always crash the economy, always bankrupt the country. They’re doing it again.

Wow – as my 14-year-old daughter would say, “Comey spilled all the tea today!”

If you go to Fox News website, there is very little to suggest that the president might be in deep kimchi, if they touch the subject at all is just to dismiss the investigations.

I sure hope so, but they have been so craven thus far that I really worry that they’ll just double down on their complicity.

Spoiler alert!

Comey is calling for a display of testicular fortitude that is very uncommon in politicians and outright unheard of among republicans.
