We’ve been waiting to see if anyone might run against tRump for the nomination. There it is:

I have no doubt the Republicans are failing to the point of extinction. My concern is will the attempt to take the country with them. Their disregard for every expectation of governance, the Constitution and common decency is still surprising. They seem to have no bottom to this pit they have created. I know we will survive them, but it is going to take a long time to heal from them.

Most of the declarations of secession cited the election of Lincoln (seen as the death knell of slavery) as the primary reason for leaving the Union.

Oh yeah Comey…there are no profiles in courage among THIS crowd. Look at Bob Corker if you want to ‘truth’. He doesn’t ‘like’ Trump, he thinks Trump is bad for the country, he thinks Trump is divisive BUT he likes the policies that are being enacted on Trump’s watch…

When a reasonable person like Comey speaks up, he stands out like neon among the sycophants and grifters that have stuck to the Mad King. Good for him.

A nun who taught me English back in fifth grade told me; “Words matter - and every word does.” The law-defying liars SOB’s populating Washington DC all need a remedial fifth-grade Catholic education.

Someday soon when the forces are arrayed on one side or the other, we may find it fortunate that the lifelong intelligence community professionals like Comey, Brennan, and Hayden have condemned this president in unprecedentedly vehement ways as a fundamental danger. They’ve seen all the really bad stuff, and they’re with us. That may sway some people who have to decide how they want history to see them.

I see you used a picture of my childhood service turtle Bert.

Absolutely not. He’s doing the right thing here but he was massively at fault in l’Affair d’emails. Sally Yates was furious with him. He massively exceeded his remit (admittedly, probably because he knew NYFO was passing Clinton dirt to Giuliani) and is desperate to rehab his reputation. He fucked up, big time: absolutely obligatory that he should stand up now.

Would be even better if he acknowledged error and THEN called down the fire-and-brimstone on GOP Crime Caucus.

Given that nowadays many, if not most, politicians with spines were born without balls, I would suggest that we change which body parts we use to describe fortitude.

Ever sanctimonious Comey is the last person to call out anyone not doing their job properly.

Please just tell me if I survive.

Wait. On second thought.

“And so I had to make the decision, separate from her, to leave them with their only opportunity to challenge it would be to burn down the entire FBI.”

“To my shock and horror, they’ve tried to do just that…"

No love lost for Comey, but I am glad he did not shy away from the opportunity to point directly at the problem and say its name aloud. Trump is trying to burn down the FBI, and the GOP has almost unanimously stood up to help him burn it down.

Got a better Republican candidate in mind?

Comey also spilled the tea in 2016 in favor of the Stable Genius.

October 28, 2016 – Comey wrote to Congress saying, “In connection with an unrelated case, the FBI has learned of the existence of emails that appear to be pertinent to the investigation.” Lynch and Yates privately said the letter ran afoul of DOJ policy.
