Clinton Derangement Syndrome will puzzle medical students hundreds of years in the future. SMH.
One of the absolute “facts” that make up the alternate universe that Republicans live in, is that Hillary Clinton is an evil woman, who routinely commits crimes, and those crimes are routinely hidden by other Democrats. When you allow yourself to visit that alternate universe you sometimes get contaminated by exposure to those “facts”. Comey apparently did visit that alternate universe at some time in the past, and he is still showing the effects of being contaminated by it. Various exorcists have attempted to drive out that demonic stress, but apparently haven’t succeeded. Thus, Comey often is controlled by forces not quite under his control.
Comey still is a really wonderful man, one who is patriotic to the core, who is highly qualified and respected by all. So, the real question here, is, does anyone know a really good exorcist, who works for a reasonable fee?
Crimes. Speeches to Wall Streeters. Same difference.
And by the way, I feel sick again.
I suspect a lot of Comey’s problem is simple technical ignorance. He just doesn’t understand how email, or really any digital systems, works. In his mind, if the emails are on her husband’s computer the only way they could have gotten there is if she actively sent them to his email account. He doesn’t understand that multiple people can use the same computer under separate profiles with separate email accounts. His ignorance of technology is reflected in his statement that he didn’t think they could go through all those documents before the election. He thought someone would actually have to read each one.
This is not to exonerate his behavior, or the behavior of FBI agents. It very well may be that the agent(s) who reported the find intentionally misled him as to the seriousness of the situation and the difficulty of resolving it quickly, or he may be obfuscating now. And his July performance clearly reflects bias, conscious or unconscious. But it doesn’t necessarily reflect intentional misstatement of facts. It may reflect only his ignorance of how the technology of email, Windows or other operating systems, and computers in general work. It may only reflect the same lack of knowledge that got Hillary Clinton in so much trouble.
File migration between devices without owner/user awareness?!?!?
My early Dell Streak smart phone did this when I left it near my Dell desk top around 2009 or so.
I’ve been curious why this possible consideration hasn’t been mentioned by the great brains.
Lamentably, Comey’s inaccurate and damaging statement about the emails during the hearings was also the top headline on the Washington Post for a couple of days. He actually did it again!
“Now the FBI is trying to figure out what to do about it.”
This is a lie. No they are not. They aren’t doing anything because the NYFO goal of derailing Clinton achieved its objective and there’s no way the agency as a whole is going to tsk-tsk itself here. Pure farce.
I don’t think even Meryl Streep could be convinced to star in “Jimmy’s Choice.” And it’s mildly bemusing watching the left now put a white hat on Comey this week.
I note the editor of this site seems to have abandoned blathering about Comey being “honorable” or whatever. That’ll probably change since everyone is expecting the guy in charge of the fire department to save the homes from the fire he started himself and then all will be forgiven.
“Although we did not find clear evidence that the FBI Director intended to perjure himself, there is evidence that he was EXTREMELY CARELESS in his handling of his testimony before Congress.”
If only all the Senators presented as well on TV as Clapper, Yates or Comey.
America needs to observe the televised testimony of General Flynn, Mr. Manafort, Mr. Bannon, Mr. Kurshner, Mr. Page, Flynn’s still active WH person, Mr. Steele of dossier fame and a few Russians. Of course, Trump would make for interesting sworn testimony as well…
I still have faith that Comey will come through re Trump, but for a guy with his reputation, he sure does make a lot of boneheaded explosive “mistakes” when it comes to Hillary Clinton.
Since lying to Federal law enforcement official is a crime then shouldn’t a lying Federal law enforcement official be a crime too?
Comey still is a really wonderful man, one who is patriotic to the core, who is highly qualified and respected by all.
I assume this is snark.

I honestly cannot figure out why so many here think that Comey is anything other than a highly partisan Republican who will do everything he can to delay and weaken any meaningful investigation of Trump-Russia collusion as long as he’s not putting himself in direct jeopardy. If he ever does announce any findings or charges that are serious, it will only be because the evidence compiled by FBI investigators and other IC entities is so overwhelming and so broadly known behind the scenes that Comey would be putting himself in dangerous territory if he tried to water them down.

Comey’s past record as a member of the Whitewater witchhunt committee as special deputy counsel was only the first time he went after the Clintons; he also was a federal prosecutor in the Marc Rich case. No charges were ever filed against either Clinton for Whitewater or for the Rich case, but Comey got another chance at the Clintons last fall. He made the best of it.
I agree with those who regard Obama’s decision to put Comey in charge of the FBI as an extremely ill-advised decision that was symptomatic of his self-defeating instincts for “bipartisanship.”
Included among the many unforced errors by Obama are appointing Comey (a Republican) to head the FBI and then not firing him after his pre-election letter or even after the election.
So we’re stuck with a lying Republican partisan Trump supporter as head of the FBI.
Thanks Obama.
“FBI director James Comey generated national headlines last week with his dramatic testimony to the Senate Judiciary Committee…”
I thought his “dramatic” tone really undermined his credibility. It seemed unprofessional and forced. Like someone had coached him, or told him to add some passion to what he said. it made my heart sink, because until then, for some stupid reason, I was holding out hope that he would do the right thing.
As for his inaccurate statement about Abedin, he was also disingenuous in presenting the “speak or conceal” choice.
I suspect a lot of Comey’s problem is simple technical ignorance
That’s not unlikely. He did make the ludicrous statement that it would have been better for Clinton’s State Department emails to have been handled via gmail.
What I find uncomfortable here is this idea that the FBI needs to figure out why Clinton set up the private server. We know why she set up the private server. It was so she could use her Blackberry. There’s plenty of evidence to support that.
gee almost seems…i dont know…coordinated
None of the messages carried classified markings at the time they were sent.**

Yes, I’m yelling. I’m really done with Comey now. He’s lost ALL credibility.
It’s been so hard for the Republicans to tear down our institutions of government, but with Comey, they’ve been able to begin the deconstruction of one of our principal law enforcement institutions. He’s been fully aware of the New York partisan agents and did nothing about them. He’s intentionally misled Congress not once, but twice, in his testimony. So, when does he collect the J. Edgar Hoover award?
Sorry, but no. The FBI has some of the most sophisticated IT analysts and agents/supervisors/managers in the country. He understands damn well what happened and has dissembled the entire time, with months and years to understand basic differences in how email functions. If he had questions or needed clarification, he also has the NSA to draw on for consultation. This is the fucking FBI (excuse my language), they don’t get excuses, they send people to death row and incarcerate hundreds of thousands of our fellow Americans on behalf of us ‘innocent’ ones.
Treating the FBI Director like my 70-year old Luddite uncle is ludicrous.
