Completely trueless. In fact, there is…Hey! check this out!
In an otherwise terrible cold open sketch on SNL last night, Eric Trump says to De Niro playing Mueller “Yes I know who you are, they say you’re the worst thing that ever happen to my dad” and Mueller replies “No, being elected President was the worst thing that ever happened to your dad”
This alternate universe … are they accepting applications for asylum?
That was weird, I just deleted that post my mistake, the trash can icon was showing as just […] and I was wondering what it did. Will repost later.
Remember the hoopla in mid-2016 about the nascent Trump TV network? Trump was all set to cash in on the publicity, with Boris Epshteyn waiting in the wings to host it. He claimed (even as they all counted on him losing) that being president would not take all his time, so he could run the network, too, most likely envisioning a return to his Apprentice glory days.
Ah well, his win made us all losers.
" infuriated Republicans who contended that someone less powerful and well-connected would have faced prosecution."
then their righteous indignation should extend to Ivanka
I saw that. DeNiro is obviously a brilliant actor, but he seemed to be reading the cue cards and uncharacteristically stumbled over his lines a few times. It threw off the sketch for me.
Yeah that live format weirdly seems to actually be getting worse for some reason. He spent most of the sketch staring 45 degrees away from where the actor he was speaking to was sitting.
I basically hate the live format and think it’s what’s wrong with the show. The pre-filmed segments are often really brilliant, to the point where I find myself surprised that the show can be that funny. This one for example.
Big name types are used to actually learning their lines. At SNL they are writing right up to showtime and it’s likely he never saw the script until he was in the dressing room. It’s not quite as easy ( obviously) as musicians who have learned to sight-read stuff all day long.
You mean finessed, as in this answer?
“A relief to my wife,” he deadpanned.
I kind of imagine since it’s de Niro they waived his rehearsal if he didn’t want to and I bet he didn’t want to - it’s de Niro. I bet he did the whole thing cold.
I’m sure you’re right about that. He’s a big “get” and SNL has to allow him some leeway.
All I have to say is…
jajajajajaja
You wouldn’t be related to a certain long-lost emilianomexicano, would you?
Yes
Damn, you’ve been missed around here! Welcome back!
You have been a great one. Great sense and intellect without the compulsion to show off.
You have no idea how happy I am to see you. I have worried about you since the election. I have felt so bad about being so sure about the outcome and then it all went to shit.
I’m so glad you are here! jajajajajajajaja
Imagine the state of the Republic.
- No House
- No Senate
- No SCOTUS
- Under attack from a hostile power
We couldn’t even go Captain Dick Winters and Easy Company. We had to face the opposition of a deeply coordinated force which included our own brethren.
And I saw and read your posts-as you articulated the struggle to save the Republic- and admired each and every one of you.
Ah thank you. That means so much.
