Discussion: Comey Declines To Say If Trump Himself Was Under Investigation

Comey urged observers not to “overinterpet” his non-answers to questions from Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) during the House Intelligence Committee hearing on Russian interference in the election.

So, Trump under investigation? Not going to say. But don’t over interpret my silence that full on states that yes, he’s under investigation.

Hillary’s emails? Old emails become new again, can’t wait to send my public letter to Congress.

I’ll take that as a “yes.”

“declines to say” = kiss of death

Let Trump tweet from his personal account! The people deserve an entertaining finale.

I think a better question would be, “Does the FBI have a copy of the Golden Showers video?”

He would say no if the answer was no. Because saying no would not be commenting on an ongoing investigation, there would no investigation to comment on. Therefor, we have to see this as a yes answer.

A president who is under active investigation for colluding with a foreign power to steal the election has no business making a lifetime appointment to the Supreme Court until that investigation is over. Period.

Especially because the Republican Senate refused to discharge their constitutional duty of advice and consent when the seat became open under President Obama.

He said he would not make a comment on ANY US persons specifically. He did not. But he DID say he was investigating potential collusion between the Trump campaign and Russians. That’s not good enough for you? Really?

He never said Hillary was being investigated, he said her SERVER was being investigated. Blame her for that. And right before the election the NY office was going to leak that they had found more emails on the server based on idiot Anthony Weiner’s computer that was being searched. Blame Weiner for that. If Comey does not make a statement, the NY office leaks, and it looks even WORSE (looks like a huge coverup).

Hillary is the idiot who decided to go against State Dept policy (that policy from a memo with HER signature on it) and do ALL her communications on a private server. Don’t blame Comey for that. For her to think that would not be an issue is absurd.

If you are interpreting Comey’s testimony today as being “pro-Trump”, that’s just also absurd.

Him going GLOMAR on this is actually bad news for Trump.

Let’s hope this extremely prudent advice goes viral.

Go back under your rock. Look around for your snark detector, or don’t. But don’t engage me.

Oh for Christ’s sake.

  1. Her possible misuse of a private server for sending/receiving/storing classified information was under investigation, not just her server. No basis for a legal case was found.

  2. If the NY office was about to leak something (which it actually already had, at least to Guiliani), that’s Comey’s problem. Get his damn office under control. Don’t go public with extremely misleading information that throws the election. And if NY office does leak, make a public statement that provides proper context and neutralizes the leak.

  3. Every one of the last several Secretaries of State went against the department policy. Colin Powell advised HRC – prior to her taking office – not to use the official email system (and then lied about that advice in a very loud voice). He used AOL for heaven’s sake. He also advised her on how to take forbidden items and info in and out of secure network rooms, as he admitted to doing. Not sure why he’s not being prosecuted for that.

For you to twist the facts to make HRC the scapegoat is absurd.

I am willing to give Comey a chance to complete his investigation. I prefer him to be cautious and thorough, which I hoped he had practiced during the campaign. His ridicule of Hillary was disgusting and I don’t think Comey would have said those things if he were speaking of a man. Yes, I threw it in, because look how mum he is on Stone, Assange, Carter, Manafort, Flynn…they are all white men! Its like “whew, the girl’s got cutties”, mindset.

But, I’m going to let the man do his job, because he we out of his way to block the Bush cabal from doing further damage to our country! That is my hope for Comey, is that he perform at that level once again.

Who did this member of Trump’s campaign coordinate with? I would think on one side there would be the Russians and on the other side there would be Trump. The president seems incapable of delegating anything of importance.

What else could the FBI be investigating Trump about that would be illegal? Leaves open a whole new line of speculation.

Money laundering through his casinos? Mafia ties in the building trades. Stabbing England in the back? Butchering the King’s English with his tweets? Sleeping with the enemy and his horse?

He delegated his entire legacy to Steve Bannon and the NeoNazis?

The FBI initiated an investigation regarding the origin and handling of classified emails on Clinton’s server. ALL emails from ALL people.

That’s because breaking rules is not against the law. But classified info (classified at that time) was in fact found. But Comey rightly stated there was never an effort to break laws, so there should be no prosecution. But they had no choice but to investigate.

No, that would be Hillary’s problem. Her in “cahoots” with Comey looks horrible.

Colin Powell never in any way even remotely suggested that she use her own private server at her home. The issue was the PRIVATE SERVER was HERS (and at her home to boot), not the fact that she was using private email. Also the memo HRC sent out when she took office (years after Powell served) clearly stated not to do ANY official business on private email, never mind a private server at your house. Then she does ALL her communication on a private server at her house. Incredibly stupid. Additionally the very slow release of all the emails from her server dragged this on and on and on.

She also lied her ass off by saying that Comey said that she had been 100% truthful in all her statements. That was a 100% bullshit statement, and it hurt her big time

You sound like the Trump people saying there is no need to investigate the Russia thing. Even if they find no evidence that Trump’s people colluded with the Russians, they still HAVE to investigate. And until this investigation is over, this hangs over the Trump Admin (just like the server stayed with Hillary), and I love it. I’d like to see it end perhaps in the summer of 2018 with some indictments, in time to get the House back from the Republicans.
