Mr. Schiff said the committee also plans to examine whether the raw intelligence substantiates intelligence officials’ assessment and whether the government reacted quickly and appropriately to revelations of Russia’s attack on the election.
It is “unknowable” whether Russian meddling altered the outcome of the election, Mr. Schiff said, emphasizing that it mattered more that Moscow succeeded in intervening and will do it again.
“If we do not do our very best to understand how the Russians accomplished this unprecedented attack on our democracy and what we need to do to protect ourselves in the future,” he said, “we will have only ourselves to blame.”

As I posted in another thread – this is HUGE… and significant. I’m so hoping Comey confirms it because the FBI is concluding those investigations and ready to charge and therefore he doesn’t have to worry about jeopardizing those cases.
I was fully ready for him glomaring… I just can’t make sense of this confirmation now.

Yeah, and Nunes basically regurgitated the Trump/WH talking points that moved the goal posts on what “wiretapping” (in quotes) means and did his utmost to imply that any sort of surveillance of the Trump campaign was inappropriate, probably criminal and something something “are you getting all this Faux News?”

Schiff was on point in responding to Trump’s tweets earlier too, tweeting
“Mr. President, the Russians hacked our election and interfered. No one disputes this now, but you. This is what is called ‘fact.’ As you will see during our hearing, Mr. President, there is no evidence Mr. Obama tapped your phones. This is what is called ‘fiction.’ Your suggestion British wiretapped you & jape with Merkel are harming our relationships with key allies. This is called ‘collateral damage.’ The intelligence community concluded the Russians will interfere again. This is why full investigation is important to country. Please stop.”

Actually, the less Comey says today, the worse it is for Trump.
If the investigation is over/nearly over and/or Comey doesn’t expect anything damaging/criminal to be forthcoming, he will talk freely…as we have seen all too often in the past.
If however, the investigation is seriously ongoing and/or Comey believes that there is evidence of criminal wrongdoing, he will likely be very tight lipped.
So on the surface, if we are frustrated with his testimony, its a bad sign for Trump.
