Discussion: Colorado's GOP Senate Hope Takes Heat From Right For Personhood Flip-Flop, But Does It Matter?

Since corporations are persons, wouldn’t this movement mean that corporations cannot be put to death-i.e., no mergers or acquisitions? Also, wouldn’t that mean that foreign corporations would need to apply for visas to operate in the US?

…an intended consequence by the neoCons.

They’ve worked long and hard and invested Gazillions to dumb down their base and scare the beJe$u$ into them.

Makes 'em a lot easier to manipulate.

Corporations are only persons when it applies to something a corporation (or corporations) want to be done.

You scenario won’t happen. But how about a corporation being “killed” by back taxes? Gummint fees and fines?

Baggers know that only their beliefs and rights are good.
Personhood is not the same as a person in the hood.

That would count as the death penalty, which these folks favor.

Or as a friend of mine used to say, not every ejaculation deserves a name.

For people, sure, but for Corporations? Those are blameless, holy creatures.

But I can still name them all of I want, right?

Because conservative Republicans have never and never will have an abortion. They also never lie, flip-flop or hate everyone that isn’t living in their blurred world of denial.

Republicans, all for everything they are against except for when they are for it or it makes them money or it suits their spite.
Staunch neo-conservatism and whatever they say it is today, that is the Republican Party.

Udall’s (and non-coordinated backers like DSCC) advertising campaign to date has consisted of about 85% ads speaking to nothing but Gardner’s support of this issue (and related birth-control, etc.) and 15% positive ads (backing wind energy, “strong” Colorado, etc.). I think they will continue to beat this drum loud and hard. Short of a catastrophe, Udall should pull this out by 3-4pts.

Or as Bill Maher once put it, “If men could get pregnant, abortions would be available at Supercuts.”

“Republicans are so thirsty for victory they’re ready to drink saltwater,” Ed Hanks, a personhood activist who lives in Douglas County

This is all part of the game. If the Personhood people weren’t upset with Gardner for this temporary flip-flop people would know the fix was in. If he’s willing to drink seawater to win surely he’s willing to “reconsider” his position after he’s won.

Grift-flopper.

Bullshit. Just another attempt at Compassionate Conservative.

You know, “Believes crazy shit, but won’t force it on people”. Remember how well that works out?

I suppose you hold a higher opinion of GOPers than I do. I see them all as grifters.

Oh, well, the guy wants to get the job. Who wouldn’t? It pays well and you get all sorts of free shit.

Point being that he claims he’s not a woman hater, even though he entusiastically backed it before, but that’s pure BS. He just needs to say it to keep the Jesus-haters quiet until he gets the job. Then he can let his Santorum-soaked freak flag fly.

Or he can always change his mind back after the election, which is what would be expected. He is a Republican remember, say anything to get elected, then lurch right.

There may be an enthusiasm gap brewing on the Republican side in 2014. First, Bob Beauprez (from the Mitt Romney wing) won the primary over Tancredo and Gessler. Now Gardner has to tack to the center to have any hope against Udall. Rasmussen has both races as dead heats, which generally means that the Democrats are ahead.

Unfortunately, the booby prize is that Ken Buck is probably going to pick up Gardner’s house seat, which is where we live.

Gardner just on Friday also crossed the party line and was one of about 11 Repubs who voted against deporting the DREAMers. If there was any doubt before that he’s willing to vote against his career positions just to get a promotion, now we know.

Smart move by the way as the Latino vote came in strong for Sen. Bennet, who upset Ken Buck in the miserable 2010 midterms.
