Discussion: Colorado Finds in Favor of Bakery That Wouldn't Decorate Anti-Gay Cake

Discussion for article #235061

Well thank God someone has a lick of sense. The “Christian” was trying to set an ideological trap here and lost in a court of law. A service provider is NOT required to write messages of hate on their product, however once that product is sold, the customer can do whatever they want with it.

This is what Christian bakers need to realize. Just bake the damned cake and let the client decorate it however they see fit. Just don’t drag your religion into it and all will be well.

Agreed. And to put the lie to this sh*thead’s bigotry, she offered to back him a cake with a Bible on it thereby demonstrating and respecting his religion. But no - he insisted on showing that his bigotry IS his religion.

Jack is the founder of the Worldview Academy, a camp that teaches “Christians to think and live in accord with a biblical worldview.”

And he’s failing miserably at maintaining a so-called “biblical worldview”. There is not one instance of consensual gay sex in the Bible, so this wild-eyed focus on homosexuality as a great sin is just batshit and says a whole lot more about the person focused on gay sex than LGBTs. Also, if homosexuality was such a sin, why is it that Christ never got around to saying one word about it, yet every other word was pretty much about caring for and loving your fellow man. How is it that these people can ignore the fact that Christ’s entire mission was about caring for the sick and those less fortunate, and still call themselves Christians? They’re not. They’re a bunch of hateful, regressive, monsters who feel impotent if they can’t force the world to bend to their will, to force everyone else not to make them feel a moment of discomfort.

The baker did not discriminate. She would not make a hateful, slur-garnished cake for anyone. All customers are treated alike, so no discrimination.

Much like a deli. They don’t provide bacon-wrapped shrimp to anyone.

If she had refused to cater a church gathering, she’d be in the wrong…but she refused to write an obscenity. Of course, the Right is going to whine about this and miss the point.

IN other words, just like the people who are refusing to do things for gay weddings, he was deliberately trying to manufacture a lawsuit in the first place in order to get a Court to rule that religion justifies anything the religious want it to justify.

Anything the religious RIGHT wants it to justify. They certainly don’t want the court justifying the religious rights of people with whom they disagree.
